Reading some of the reviews on here really makes me wonder, all the passive-aggressive dips that live in this city dont say or do anything when they live here, but will ----- about it on line.
Ghetto' I dont know what Ghetto you have lived in, but this isnt it. Yeah, its a bit early 90s, but thats when the place was built. And a good thing too, solid block walls and double paned windows, fire sprinklers, garbage chute, washer and dryer, pool, 2 jacuzzis and being in the middle of Capital Hill, First Hill and Downtown.
I agree it gets noisy and if you live on the boren side it can get hot too. I live on the south west corner and get a nice breeze that cools my place perfect in the summer. Plus they allow pets, which helps meet the neighbors (many of whom do act snobish for some reason), and its pretty hard to find a place that takes dogs. Especially big ones. And now there is a dog park a block away.
Having a hotel next door is great for out of town guests, especially family members!
The closets are small (walk ins would be nice) the walls keep things quiet, but I think the floor and ceiling could be a bit more insulated. I know that acoustic popcorn is ugly, but it must do something. Maybe thicker carpet pad (and get rid of the nasty berber!)
I moved here from a home of my own, and in some ways I like it better. If you cook, the kitchen is really well laid out. And the Moen fawcetts with hose and spray attachement, the dual sink, pretty cool details for an apartment.
As for Management, people have had some pretty mean things to say about Tamantha and Connie. I think they are amazing. I work from home and we get together and talk all the time. If most anything is broken, it gets fixed. But what really meant a lot to me, was when I went into the hospital on Christmas Eve and didnt get out until after new years, Tamantha called to see how I was. If that wasnt cool enough, she took care of my pets too.
Thats going the extra mile. My lease is up soon, and I have been looking around at other places. They are a bit pricy, but no more than other places at this level. One thing for sure, the VALUE of Avanti living far exceeds the cost.
