First off, this is a really great location to live, right next to downtown Seattle. Just one block away from the convention center, two blocks from...well, everything else :) Cheesecake Factory, Gameworks, a theater, shopping, the Paramount... another block over to Pacific Place mall, and two blocks down from that to Westlake Center mall (where you can take a monorail to Seattle Center if you don't want to walk it). A walk to Freeway Park is even closer than the convention center, and there's a dogwalking park nearby where dogs are allowed off-leash. There's a small privately owned grocery store up the street a bit, and many many coffee/internet shops. Oh, and I-5 is a couple blocks away as well, takes almost no time to get to either 520 or I-90 to go across the lake (of course, once you are on the bridges it's a different story...) You will pay a little more for such a great location, but it isn't too bad. I had an apartment about this size in a suburb, cost $850 a month, here I pay less than $400 more.
The apartment itself, seems pretty average for a 1 BR. Kitchen is pretty small, balcony is VERY small. Stayed warm in the winter, we had worst snowstorms ever this year and I never had to turn on the heater. Not too hot right now in this 80 degree weather (as long as you keep a couple windows open and keep your ceiling fan running). Washer/dryer are small (but that makes for quick loads), located in the bathroom (which, again, seems average for a 1 BR - really big mirror, though).
When I moved in, it seemed the place had only really been given a quick once-over beforehand, not a full cleaning, particularly the bathtub (something I've read in a couple other reviews); heck, the electrical outlet covers were all still off from the walls being painted and paint buckets were still here. But the maintenance guy came with his drill and got that fixed up quickly and professionally. Parking spaces are definitely too close together - driving through the passageways can be a bit tricky the first couple times, they are so thin (and you can see scrapes on the walls from unfortunate drivers), but I don't mind that; what sucks is the little room between spaces. If you have a large truck or something, you may want to think about that before paying extra for parking here; I have a tough time parking here leaving room on both sides of my car for the other cars, and I've got a tiny little car. Spaces are all reserved so no worries about finding a spot.
