Take Your Chances...

I was going to rent an apartment here; in fact it was all set. I had paid the $40 processing fee to have my credit and references checked (non-refundable, by the way), and was approved. I had an appointment with the manager to sign the lease... I was all set. First he had left me a message saying I was approved and needed to come sign the lease. Then I left messages back saying "okay, lets do it", and then it was days before he returned my call again. Then we set the lease-signing appointment and ... he didn't show up! I called all day and he didn't answer. I called the next day and he didn't answer. He didn't return my calls for two days. Meanwhile, not knowing if he had somehow changed his mind, and needing something definite, I had gotten another apartment. I also had to wonder what a manager like this would be like if my toilet were overflowing, or if I needed something done urgently. And when he finally called me, he didn't even think it was anything unusual that he had flaked on our appointment, or that he hadn't returned my calls for days. Scary! And on top of all that, he got to keep my $40 fee. Sure, he can charge to screen me, but I can't charge to screen him.
I would recommend this apartment if you don't care about flaky, irresponsible managers, and if you don't have a car. Sure, the location is kind of cool, but there are others that are too, and better taken care of. And of 4 the apartments in this building I looked at, only one had carpet that was not completely stained and actually looked livable. Don't recommend.
