The good, the bad, the ugly

Despite this place being expensive (the rent is $995 $70 comcast $8 garbage $20 - $40 water $60 - $80 electricity) it was charming.
The location is amazing and I can see Elliot Bay from the kitchen.
The apartment is rather large even having a "den" area.
The bay windows are really beautiful.
That's where the good ends.
The laundry room is DISGUSTING and only has two washers and dryers for the whole building.
The staircases are creepy and so are the other tenants.
The guy below me plays his music so loud I can actually feel it and it scares my dogs.
Management was friendly until they got me into the apartment and now they are short with me when I try to discuss problems.
The bathroom in my corner unit has the worst layout I've ever seen and is hardly big enough to walk into.
There is no electrical plug in there either.
The kitchen has 4 cabnets...not enough space for my dishes even.
There is a closet next to the kitchen which serves as a pantry since I have no where else to fit the food.
Oh...and my favorite part, NO DISHWASHER...which the landlord failed to tell me along with there being a foodbank across the street and a halfway house next door.
The apartment is almost always littered with bums, one of which actually tried to grab me (I am female) when my boyfriend was walking with me to his car.
Needless to say, I now have pepper spray and NEVER wear any shoes to the car unless I can run in them.
I can generally find street parking but since I do work some crazy hours, too often I have to park more than four blocks away and that's with the zone 7 permit.
I must say the best part about my apartment though, I saved for last.
There is a MAJOR bug infestation.
Yesterday I filled my trashcan with toliet paper I'd used smashing them and this was only a few short days after the maintenance guy let off the nastiest bug bomb.
For this, I had to take my dogs to work with me for the day and put my dishes in my bed so I didn't have to hand wash them all.
These bugs have been here since I moved in so that probably tells you how great their cleaning job did.
I've been here going on 5 months and they've sprayed and let off that darn bomb.
Each time, the bugs got worse within a matter of days.
And it's my problem...management isn't about to make it theirs.
I will say the landlord is on the phone with the exterminator today but lucky me, I get to take my dogs out of the apartment again for the day...

I lived in the Bradbury for a year, I was freshly 18 years old. I never felt insecure walking home at night or being in the neighborhood. The streets are well lit and there are always cars going by. The crime rate is low even though the people from the Cherry Street Food Source are 'bums' most of them are people down on their luck. I also never experienced a bug infestation. I think that you may have a discrepancy with your neighbor, let's not blame the on the Bradbury.

As a female, I felt completely unsafe walking this neighborhood at night. I always made sure a friend or family member knew when I was. The streets are not that well lit nor are there many cars driving around past 9 or 10 at night.
The people who visit the food bank might mostly be people down on their luck and good people, but it doesn't change the fact that one of their regulars (I'd seen him several times across the street) did try to grab me, in the middle of the day when I was with my boyfriend. He also followed us to our car, screaming obscenities, stood in the middle of the road not letting us by until I threatened to call 911. Then he spit on the car as we drove past.
Not only that but let's not forget the halfway house next door with the giant windows that I had to walk past to get into the building. I was frequently leered at and cat called - which I unfortunately, could still here through the walls.
I'm glad you never had to experience the bugs because they were a giant pain. Bradbury set off a second bug bomb before they finally paid for a terminator. When he came, he said the Bradbury did the worst thing possible by setting off the bombs because it drives them out of the walls and into my apartment. It essentially just aggravates them. Not to mention, it shouldn't have taken 6 months to fix. When I moved out, I found dead bugs in several drawers (in my clothes) and in some of my food.
Oh and I did talk to my neighbor myself. When that didn't work, I went to management, expecting them to intervene and enforce the quiet hours in the lease. They didn't.
I've lived in 5 apartments in Seattle and one in Redmond, all varying in price and neighborhoods. The Bradbury was at the higher end for rent. It was by far, the worst of the apartments I've lived in. I'd never recommend it. I ended up breaking my lease there, which I've never done anywhere else. I would, however, recommend any of the other places I've lived.
