Yo!

Pricey, but pleasant

My experiences were generally positive. Everything in the apartment functioned without a hitch, the studio I had was large and open, and the office staff was pleasant. There were a couple of times when the neighbors were loud, but responded positively when asked to turn down the music. I lived on the 4th Ave side of the tower which had a lot of street noise (e.g. theres a fire station a block down the street, lots of tricked out car stereos booming at all hours), but it didnt bother me much. There arent screens on the windows, but I never had problems with bugs. Management keeps the building clean. The workout room is busy as another reviewer noted, but only when youd expect it to be (5am - 8am weekday mornings, 6-10pm weekday evenings). Even during these times I never had a problem getting a machine. The equipment is in good shape and seems to function consistently. Parking is tight, but I always found a space. Its also fairly expensive at 115/mo for an unreserved spot 150/mo for reserved.

The laundry room leaves something to be desired. There are only 3 small washers and dryers and its $1 to wash and $1 to dry. The dryers run on a short cycle and rarely get clothes completely dry.

For the price, they do a lot of nickel and diming. As mentioned above, the laundry facilities are substandard. You also pay for all utilities. The water, trash, and gas bill is prorated based on apt size and seemed high (avg was $60 /mo). Theres a $150 nonrefundable fee when you apply. However, downtown Seattle is experiencing high residential vacancy rates right now so they may be cutting new tenants some breaks due to competition.

The Belltown neighborhood is great for entertainment purposes. Plenty of bars, restaurants, parks, and other entertainment all within walking distance. You can walk to Key Arena in 15 minutes, downtown in 20 minutes, the stadiums in 30 minutes, and Capitol Hill in 35 or so. Buses are plentiful. However, theres a significant amount of petty crime (theft, prostitution, drugs) and panhandling in the area but I never had any problems walking around at night (though my car was vandalized one night in the garage).

If youre looking for an upscale, urban apartment you should consider this place. However, you can probably get a better deal in Ballard, Capitol Hill, or the burbs for a comparable property. Likewise, if you want something without all the bells and whistles there are several old, barebones buildings in Belltown.
