In a nutshell, Cherry Hill is a decent place to live. It's not perfect, but what apartment complex is' The grounds are pretty well kept and have some beautiful flowering plants, especially in the spring; there is plenty of parking and the lot is well lit at night. They allow pets, including dogs of all sizes, which I think is wonderful and gives it a 'neighborhood' feel to the community. Most tenants are responsible about cleaning up after their animals, which is important.
Even though it's no longer legal, I wish there were apartment communities for 'adults only,' as most of my negative experiences have centered around children and teens who could use a little more parenting.
Weekday management is sketchy -- but if you're assertive your needs can be met. Rental rates can be negotiated, which is great now that it's finally more of a 'renters market' in the greater Seattle area.
Right now the biggest drawback to Cherry Hill is the closure of eastbound traffic on Forest Park Drive. It's a huge inconvenience and unfortunately, I don't believe the road is going to be restored any time soon.
The apartments are fairly well constructed although starting to show some wear and tear on the exterior -- a few upper floor balconies have been replaced and there are stairway handrails that NEED to be replaced as well. My unit is well designed and fairly quiet. I have had a variety of neighbors and for the most part they have been respectable, responsible people. I believe tenants have a responsibility to speak up about neighbors who are problematic to keep the complex from becoming a haven for renters who don't care about the community in which they live.
