Weve been living here for almost a year now and our lease is FINALLY about to run out. We would have left sooner, but didnt want to pay a penalty. The situation was unfortunate because we didnt know much about the area before moving here (our previous apartment was in Corvallis, OR), so we took a recomendation of moving to the North Seattle Area without without first seeing this area. This was our first mistake.
Our second mistake was believing the apartment description/photos on the internet. The photos depict a nice area-- with trees, I might add--something we had grown used to seeing, being from Oregon. Well, the few trees that they had were nice while they lasted--the management cut most of them down a few months into our lease, leaving us with no privacy at all from our neighbors across the way and no sound buffer from passing traffic.
Which brings me to my next point: the traffic. Unless you are hard of hearing, DO NOT MOVE HERE. The traffic is on both sides of us, as we overlook the intersection of 130th and Greenwood. This is no minor intersection and, yes, the diesel fumes come right through the window in the summer. Not that youd want your window open anyway because of the noise. Worse than just the normal traffic is the fact that the complex is right across the street from a fire station--a fire station that seems to have an above average number of emergencies, as some days weve heard sirens literally every 5 minutes! As annoying as that is during the day, just try to get some sleep around here with all that noise.
About the complex itself: it is NOT well maintained AT ALL. Our apartment is NOT worth the money we are spending for it every month. We have lived in places that cost much less and been in better areas, with more square footage with more, better features than this dump. The appliances are old, worn out. The washer/dryer is equivalent to an Easy Bake Oven--dont count on it for any *real* laundry, i.e. bedding or other large loads. Our linoleum is covered in burn marks and other scars, making it very frustrating to clean because it never LOOKS clean, no matter what (plus, its just damn ugly!). The carpet seems to not have been replaced since the buldings were first constructed, as ours is worn out in many places.
The parking is another major problem at this complex. Yes, you have one covered spot which is reserved for you. And, its about as wide as a toothpick. Fortunately, the people that we are parking next to now have relatively small vehicles (as do we). If you have a truck, van, or SUV, you will be very disappointed. Also, if you have a second car as we do, it can be very challenging to find a spot to park it in--especially hard to find a spot thats anywhere near to your own apartment. So, if you move here, be prepared to hike your groceries across the complex in the rain, through the mud.
I could go on, but the bottom line is this: DO NOT MOVE HERE. If it was the last place on Earth, I would never live here again.
