I lived in the same unit from August of 2003 until the end of July this year (2008). On the plus side is the location, for me also was assigned parking and having a washer/dryer in the unit. I have lived there through multiple resident managers most currently Scott and innumerable maintenance people. All of the resident managers have been helpful and responsive to my requests. On the downside there are a couple of things none of them deal breakers. The building and units, mine anyway were beginning to show its age. Every appliance in my unit has been replaced with the exception of the stove which really should have been. This could be seen as a plus as the managers had no problem replacing them. The window edges are showing there years of exposure to sunlight such as there is in Seattle and the shrubbery in the courtyard is not cut as frequently as it should be overhanging the pathways. Noise-wise I would say things are about what you would expect. Noise levels increased on the weekends and after the bars closed on weekends. You do pay for your own water. Others have mentioned about UPS/FedEX deliveries. I found it convenient to possible have someone else there to sign while I was at work. The only thing bad I would say is that you had to be diligent about checking on your expected packages as there was often no notification that a package was down in the office for you as neither UPS or Management would leave notice leaving it up to you to check or Scott to call you and let you know there was a package. This isn't exactly the apartments responsibility but could get annoying. We experienced multiple instances of flooding both from rain and upstairs laundry while we lived there. The plumbing was "fixed" however in one instance it left one of the rooms uninhabitable for several days. My gripe here is that rather than proactively offering some compensation for the inconvenience I had to request it of the Management. I was not given what I felt was fair compensation for the inconvenience. I think this speaks to not the the onsite management but to the Management companies attitude towards longtime tenants. Overall I would say I was o.k. with living at the Copperfield. If I were to ever move back to the area I don't know that I would rent there as I do think the value to rent ratio is just not there anymore. If the rents were lower I would almost certainly say yes.
