Depressing and unsafe

I lived in the top floor of the tower for 6 months. Millions of dollars have been put into changing the building from a crime-ridden, rat infested trouble spot, but many of the old problems have still not been solved. Tenants leave garbage everywhere and there is frequently urine (and worse) in the elevators. It's more than the very sweet elderly housekeeper can keep up with, despite her best efforts. The security door is often broken (on purpose, by destructive tenants), and mostly useless anyway since people are always carelessly letting shady characters in. There is all kinds of drug activity in and around the building and sometimes you can hear gunfire in the neighborhood at night. Scary thug guys hang around the lobby and elevators and bother women. The fire alarms go off at least once a month, and during one evacuation of the building I had to jump over an old recliner that had been left outside and was totally blocking the fire escape. I couldn't wait to get out of that neighborhood and wouldn't recommend the building to anyone.
