If you need all of the amenities such as a crack dealer at the end of your hall, your most favorite graffiti artist showing off his abilities in your elevator, your local Sheriff's Department two parking spaces away, a Rent-a-Cop in front of the office after hours, (who by the way seems to be USELESS, or they just need add about 50 more of them), a garbage bin for a parking lot and extra dents in your nice car, then this is most definitely the place to be!
Okay, in all reality, this is the most GHETTO place- and yes, I said GHETTO! I thought I knew what that meant before I lived here- but I REALLY know what it means now! Turns out that it is a HUD property. For those of you who don't know what a HUD property is- it basically means that it is a low-income housing community. I have nothing against housing communities that are willing to help out those in need, because my family and I were one of those at the time we moved in. HOWEVER, don't abuse your right, or anyone else's for that matter. MOST people in this complex have NO RESPECT for anyone, not even themselves!
I feel like I live in a public daycare facility. There are about 20 kids to every 1 adult, I SWEAR! I am surprised they don't have the local DSHS Office inside the complex! Just last week my boyfriend and I were in the elevator and some little snotty nosed brat was begging for our food! Seriously' Does anyone have any common decency around here' I guess freaking not!
We pay $715 per month, for a one bedroom apartment (No, I don't get help from the state, nor do I qualify for one of the "cheap" apartments because I make too much money, so I pay FULL rent!) On top of our base rent, we pay $35 for or washer/dryer, and yes, we RENT it. Then we pay $45 for our cable, and $100 for a dinky garage that my car barely squeezes into) On top of all that, we are currently paying a $50 month-to-month fee b/c we did NOT want to sign another lease and are getting out ASAP! All in all, we pay close to $1000 a month for our one bedroom apartment- We can even reach across our balcony and touch our neighbor- how nice! They can see into our bedroom from their living room- so much for having ANY privacy! In addition to all of these wonderful amenities, the kids in our building like to get their daily exercise by running UP AND DOWN THE HALL ALL G-DAMN DAY!!!
There was one night that we came home, or TRIED to I should say.... There were two helicopters flying over our complex, plus there were approximately 20 police cars outside of the gate, and they were all lit up like freaking Christmas trees. They were not letting ANYONE in or out- Must've been pretty serious, but we never heard anything, of course.
We live in what they like to call "Controlled access" Well since day one, everyone in the entire "hood" knows the code! Recently, the front door was replaced because some yayhoo kicked in the glass. Now it looks like you're walking into a prison cell. Classy.
And just an FYI, a lot of people who live here came from the PROJECTS that they tore down just down the street. Oh yes, and the victims of Hurricane Katrina- GOOD TO KNOW!
Anyway, I could go on and on about this place. I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST LIVING HERE, but of course, it is at your own discretion! It has served it's purpose for us, but has PROGRESSIVELY gotten worse day by day and we are SO out of this place ASAP! This is not an adequate place (in my opinion) to raise your children- it will teach them nothing but disrespect. Trust me, I have seen it first hand! Good luck with whatever your future endeavors may be!
Good Riddance Creston Point, it was definitely NOT nice knowing you!
