I was swept away by the amount of charm that the apartment has. It's very unique and much of it original. Very centrally located and easy access to I-5, 99 and bus system. Noise from freeway is a bit loud and the construction noise from new condos wakes you up at 6am everyday, but other than that it's a great apartment.

As for management...impossible. Our toilet and faucet in the shower were leaking for over 4 weeks. They came three times (in four weeks that's not very much) to repair and finally on the last visit I was told that "it's not repairable...the toilet is 103 years old you can't expect it to work like modern toilets." This was hilarious to me considering that we live in 2006 and I should be able to flush my toilet without it leaking out of the tank and down the drain (did I mention that I pay the water/sewer bill)

Also, don't plan on actually using the washers and dryers that are in the building. They are ALWAYS broken and the dryers have never worked. Even after two trys the clothes are still wet. When I complained about it they said that it was the standard heat level for commerical dryers...bullsh*t if you ask me. I've never seen a dryer that didn't work unless it was broken.

It's interesting because, I am a Dover resident and have been here for a total of 7 years on and off for the last 10 years and, my experience is completly different. I have experience a few different management companies, many different agents and the one we have had for the last 2 years has been the very best of them all! And that includes my experience with other management companies and other agents in different apartment buildings. I think I know who you are....you only lived here at the Dover for 3 months and then broke your contract. I bet the super nice manager we have probably let you out without penalty. I would know this because I know that the landlord does not sign leases that are less then 6 months but you moved out of the Dover and the state in less then 4months. Thank God! I hope you went back where ever you came from. You are probably a suberban communist who can't handle living in the city, the kind of drama queen who looks for reasons to complain and ----- about everything. Good luck in life and what you will become when your husband wakes up and leaves you. The Dover is the best place to live in downtown seattle, with reasonable rent, great pleasant staff who respond very promptly to any service requests. They allways follow up, and are very professional. If a dryer or toilet needs fixing but does not work after the first or second time o it being worked on, it could be a magnifacture default! If they came 3 times to fix your toilet, abviously they were trying and working hard to take care of the problem!! I know a few people who have moved out and now really want to come back After they experienced living in other buildings! If you are looking for a place to live, please call the Dover and feel free to contact current residents and ask for a reference and make your own judjement!
