My 4 years at the Dover

I've lived at the Dover for 4 years and couldn't be happier. I have never seen any pests of any kind and have not experienced any problems whatsoever with management. I am a Metro rider so parking is not a consideration but I can see how it could be a problem if you did. After all, folks, it IS downtown. My friends that DO drive and visit never have more trouble than anywhere else in the city finding a spot. I love being right in the heart of the city and right across the street from the #12 and 2 blocks from most major routes on 4th. Also two blocks away is a Bartells and two blocks in the opposite direction our new M Street Grocery, which I love and is open till 10 every night. It tickles me when complain about noise when living in mid-income housing in the middle of a major city. The vast majority of residents at the Dover are young and as young urbanites we like to party. It's not all the time, but it can sometimes get rowdy on a Friday or Saturday night. Then again I like the freedom I have to be rowdy from time to time with my friends too. Overall, I think people are pretty considerate. I would say the biggest downfall is the laundry facilities: 4 washers and 4 dryers for fifty-some units. After being there you just learn the best times to go that work for you. I guess I must be used to the I5 traffic because I don't hear it at all. It's one of those things you just get used to, like a ceiling fan that's constantly on. Another thing I really like is how safe it is. Because it's downtown and right next to a hotel you rarely find "questionable" people around, like I do almost every time when I visit friends that pay twice as much to live in Belltown or Queen Anne. I love the hardwood floors, clawfoot bathtub, and new kitchen appliances. My only fear is that one day soon they'll tear it down to make room for more condos. I'll be very sad if that day ever comes...

The location is not that great for me as I like a more residential environment. It's great for those of you who love urban living and being able walk everywhere. I love the building, and the manager is very professional and pleasant to deal with. She has been working her for a while, well much longer then all the previous mamanagers. I would recomand this as long as you dont drive or are willing to pay up to $200 bucks to buy parking from the neighboring buildings.
