Avoid Like the Plague From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 12/21/2007 Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007 1 response   First off, this review needs to be prefaced by saying that the newest on-site manager, Deborah, is the best manager I've ever dealt with. That said, this place is crap. New paint layered over old, aged building with very few updates performed in the last thirty years. Horribly insulated is an understatement. Parking is a joke and my car was broken into in the first month. The real kicker though is the Owner/Management Company/Maintenance. The apartment was shown with a brand new range in it. BRAND NEW. Upon move-in, two weeks later, the new range was replaced with one from circa 1968. Now most times I have no problem with old appliances, even in a bait and switch situation like this. I do have a problem with old appliances that are potentially harmful. I have a HUGE problem with appliances that are downright lethal. There was an internal short in this range that kept a 240V AC line hot even when the stove was off. I received several violent shocks when touching a pan on the stove and the sink at the same time (pretty typical when washing dishes). It finally took a demonstration on my part to convince Igor the wonder super that the range was seriously dangerous. This demonstration involved measuring the current with a multimeter between the stove-top and the sink...which resulted in blowing a 10 amp fuse and welding a pin-prick sized hole in the sink.....pretty lethal if you ask me. The management company, the owner and whomever he's related to that works in the building are horribly unethical people. Forget about trying to get any owed money back as that is the only thing these people care about. I'd rather live in a box down by the river.
