I lived in the Gordon Apartments for a while. I must admit that I was initially charmed by the constantly dirty rugs, the transient nature of my neighbors, a slew of homeless men that used the alley as a toilet/home/hang out, and the high turnover rate of building managers. I was truly living in a city. Then charm turned to disgust. I found out there were pigeons living in a small space between the ceiling and the roof. Every morning you can expect to be woken up by the ominous rat-like scratching of dozens of pigeons above your head. I managed to find some sick intrigue in this added idiosyncrasy until I tried drilling a small hole in the ceiling to hang a planter and I was immediately covered in pigeon sh_t. "Work orders" were filled out and nothing came of it. Be careful of those "work orders." I suspect they make paper mache out of them and use the goo to make the walls.
Then it rained, as you may have seen it do in Seattle. My ceiling leaked. A LOT. Before the water could hit my possessions, it first had to filter through all that aforementioned pigeon ----. See where I'm going with this' The smell was overpowering. The clean-up process was worse. Oh. And the water found its way into my lighting fixture, which shorted out a wire and began to fill my apartment with smoke. The light wouldn't turn off because of the short and the fire department had to get involved. This was November 2005. They temporarily fixed the problem (read as: they threw a tarp over the roof) and credited me for my damage. It rained again. It leaked again.
I was told that, "of course it leaked again. There is just a tarp up there! That's a TEMPORARY fix! Water is still going to find its way into your apartment." Yes, my mistake. how silly of me. They refused to pay for the second onslaught of damages. And then they tried raising my rent without 30 days notice. Thank you Tenants Union!! I am now a member.
RP Management is a large corporation that could care less how reprehensible your living conditions are and apparently if you bring this to their attention, they raise your rent.
Parking is $75 per month if you can get a spot. Lower QA parking is a nightmare.
