Pricy, but you pay for what you get

One of the best apartments you can find around the U district. They got great management: helpful managers, clean public areas, responsive maintenance. The main drawback is the price you pay every month (no utilities included). other problems are the noise and the neighborhood.
noise: The apartment is close to 50th, so expect noisy traffic and random people yelling and shouting near by. My neighbor below me has this huge subwoofer which she uses to blast her ears every once and a while during midnight and afternoon (SUPPER ANNOYING!!!). The noise disappeared after I complained this to the managers (Don't know how long it will last though). The floor is very thin, so any trembling or low-pitch noise will pass straight through it. By the way, there's also a fire station near by, so you will often hear sirens throughout the day.
Safety: The apartment itself is very secured and safe, but the surrounding neighborhood isn't very friendly: certainly not a safe place to walk alone during the night.
I've lived in many apartments, from the cheap COHO apartments to the poorly maintained Kelsey APEX apartments. In the end, I decided to pay the premium for a quality apartment that I could feel content with.
FYI: when you're leasing the apartment, ask the managers about free months (usually 1 to 2 months free during June to August)and "Friend referral bonus" (if you have a friend living here).
