Rent increases, random suprise inspection, and mold. Yay!

I still live in InsBruck, and while there are a few good aspects, the negative outweigh them 2 to 1.

First, the positive.
The apartment manager here is a sweetheart. She is always willing to help my family out regardless of what the favor is. She's let us in when we forget our fobs at 2AM, scared off paring spot thieves, and watched our child for short periods of time. She's been a saint.

There is one assigned parking spot per apartment.

It's conveniently located near to both the airport and the free way. You can feasibly work in Federal Way, Seattle, Renton, SeaTac, or any surrounding area with a short 10-25 minute drive.

The 174 bus route picks up just outside, and is a main artery line for metro.

The negative:
Rent has increased in less then two years by $125.

You are now charged for water and sewage. For my family that's to the tune of about $75 a month.

Parking spots are regularly stolen.

Visitor parking is a line of 4 cars, and if you don't park perfectly flush to the property line, you can be towed by the city for blocking the entrance for emergency vehicles.

There is a parking spot war with Subway at the moment, where if you dare to park on the far side of the lot when our lot is full, they will tow you. Regardless of the time or how busy/slow they are. They've even towed there own customers assuming it was an Insbruck resident!

The owner likes to randomly inspect the homes. Don't expect much privacy.

There is black mold on the window sills and on the outside walls. When managment is informed of these issues we are instructed to wipe with bleach and fan out the area. No mold inspection, other then the ones the owner half ass does, are completed here. The issue is ongoing and mostly ignored.

The maintenance crew has been replaced several times in our 2 year stay. We currently have what appears to be a tweaker couple.

The laundry mat, which is 4 washers and 4 dryers split on 2 levels in 2 different rooms, is closed at 9PM. If you're a night person, expect to wear nasty clothes.

They slapped up a coat of paint, but didn't sand/prime. So the paint job, which is less then a year old, is already pealing off in most areas. Our front door looks worse then it did before they painted. It's now got 3 colors on it from the peal spots!

Every time our next door neighbors move out we get some type of bug infestation. The first time it was cockroaches, then fleas, then roaches and fleas. This latest time it's just fleas. Our poor cats! We now have to treat them both for worms. V.V

We didn't have blinds or closet doors for the first 3 months we lived here. The doors didn't arrive for 5 months. We're STILL waiting for window screens.

When our disposal died on us, we were told that it would be replaced at first. Then they ripped it out and left.

The back garden was once dying grass and a few shrubs. They completely re landscaped it. Why isn't this in the positive section then you ask' They promised all residents that it would be thick grass, a spot for bar-b-ques, and maybe a place for a small play area. Instead it's a wide rock path and some hardy plants. When children fall down in that area it's nearly guaranteed that they will be cut. I guess the sharp rocks were cheaper.

OK, so maybe it's 3 to 1.

If you need a larger 2 bedroom short term, don't drive or have 1 car, don't mind noise, don't want your children to go outside, and don't have pets this is a nice place to live.
