Just the other night I came home around 9pm. The gate closes at 8pm. I did not have a key-card on me, and the only person with one was an hours drive away. Can you see where this is going'

So, it struck me as funny that there were rent-a-cops actually in the guard post. It's NEVER occupied. But, I pull forward like everybody does, and try to follow somebody in. The gate closes right in front of me. I back up and talk to the guard. I explain that I just don't have my card. I have keys to the apartment (all the buildings use the same key, whole other complaint!) that I could show as proof. He says that he knows I live here, but he can't let me in. No exceptions. I tell him the only key-card we have is with somebody any hour away. He says he's sorry, no exceptions.

He says I should just park outside and walk to my apartment. I explain that my apartment is at the end of the neighborhood. He says I should use the back gate. I explain to him that I can't use the back gate, I don't have a card. He looks suprised. Apparently they don't even tell the regular security how the gates work!

I had to wait around for my boyfriend to show up with a keycard and follow him in- what's more though, is when my boyfriend gets there, the security guys aren't in the post anymore anyway.

So, if you want to burglarize these apartments, the only time you cannot get in is between the hours of 8pm and 10pm.

And just in case you're wondering, parking still sucks, my neighbors are still noisey, the dogs still make messes in the halls, people still smoke indoors near my door, they still pile garabage in the planters, etc, etc, etc.

Oh, and if you DO move here (I don't know, maybe you're masochistic or being tortured) don't have any packages sent to you. They will just sit in a back room and the nice, but lazy, lady at the front desk won't want to get up to go get them. I had to wait till after Christmas to give a gift because they wouldn't bother to look. I paid extra money for the package to arrive in time to give the gift, and I might as well not have.

I'll take pictures next.

Can't... wait... to... move...

It sounds like you are one of those people who are just not happy with anything in thier life. My God, you had to search for a website to complain about your own stupidity. You complain about security not knowing about the back gate, however you dont know to be responsible enough to bring your gate key. You are retarded!!!!

Sounds like a frustrating situation. I worked security in that complex for part of 2007, and in the first 15 days of July I responded to 13 shootings that were either in the complex or at the gates. I left because the company offered no support and there was no plan for dealing with that kind of volume of calls (other violent crimes prevail in numbers). The pay was awful too, and that was because AF Evans, the property ownership group would put their security contract on the bid system, rather than actually securing the appropriate security service for this kind of job. Further, tenants of this complex made specific threats of specific SPD Officers, which in turn made a more horrific situation, because SPD would not help with service calls. They would show up for the aftermath of a shooting or a beating or a collison, but they would never help with trespassing an unwanted person or assist with stopping a car prowler, things that would stem some of the more serious crimes going on. The ownership group is a joke that has no interest in creating a safe place, they just want to keep the investment low until they can bulldoze the whole lot when property values go back up, and the services they contract end up being a joke because their is no money to provide adequate tools for the job. Aside from all the shootings, about every three days I was backing up some task force (drugs, auto-theft, etc) or some federal agency with a warrant service. Security in that complex should be making 25-30 an hour with the amount of back up to law enforcement we were providing, not to mention the absolute risk involved in working there. Some tenants were nice, but most were just looking to keep tabs on you so they could talk on two-way radios about where you were in the complex. This complex is really a lost cause and the property management has everything to do with it. They say they are trying to attract new tenants, with a focus on honorable people, but how do you expect to attract that when you won't kick people out who are contributing to a continuing problem of crime in your buildings? Oh, I forgot to mention, this is all going across the street from a high school. Talk about a forgotten part of Seattle. This place is pathetic.
