Great building.....bad neighbors

Yes The Lola is a great building in and of itself. Fred the owner/handyman is really friendly and does fix things immediatley and properly, he will even give you his direct ph# if the Manager is not able to deal with your issue. I have lived here for almost a year and I like everyting except for the 2 different tenants that have lived above me. The building is pretty much sound proof on the sides, but from top to bottom is another story.

The girl that lived above me when I first moved in weighed about 22lbs but somehow managed to stomp like a 300lb man with Frankenstein shoes on. She was really rude and slammed the door in my face when I tried to speak to her about this. I then went to the Apt. Manager and she didn't really care and didn't want to do anything about it until I basically bugged her about it. She did eventually write the stomper a letter, but it did no good. Fred on the other hand was great, he told her to get some rugs and appologized to me in person for the noise.

Then ol' Stomp-o moved out and the Manager changed to a much younger man.
The new tenant above me evidently has an issue with getting some throw rugs and seems to always wear his shoes. I love this building and my unit, but I cannot wait to move to a building that I can atually fall asleep in without hearing my upstairs neighbor. Maybe it's just this unit or just these 2 people, because no one else seems to have these issues here. Just my bad luck.

It seems like the rent has been raised quite a bit since I moved in. The new tenants are paying around $990/mo for a studio or a 1 bed that is the exact same square footage as the studio.

Good things:
Cat friendly
Mostly quiet
Garage Parking available
Beautiful hardwoods, built-ins and french doors.
Secure front entrance with buzz-in by your phone.
Nice original fixtures and full size tubs
New hot H2O heater
Yard waste reciptical that you can put compostables in.

Bad things:
Only 2 washers /dryers
Some noise from upstairs/downstairs neighbors
Outgoing mail does not have a secure receptacle, just put it ontop of the mailboxes... don't like this, people steal outgoing Netflix!
No street parking
