The place is pretty loud, at the intersection of 2 noisy streets. The proximity to the Ave also makes for noisy crowds on club nights. The double-windows do a pretty good job of keeping the noise out, but only when they're closed.
While street noise is a problem, there's almost no problem with noise from neighbors. The rooms are well insulated from each other.
There's a really oily, black dust that comes in off of the street through the windows. This means that blinds need to be cleaned (with orange-cleaner) every few months.
The local staff is very helpful and friendly, but I get the impression that the parent-company is a bit sleazier. Don't expect to get too much of your deposit back. I was charged a substantial deduction after leaving the apartment cleaner than I received it (which wasn't saying that much).
The concrete walls make it hard to hang pictures.
The closets are huge.
The fixtures are old, but work well. Hot water is plentiful. A lot of the electrical sockets are only 2-pronged.
I never felt unsafe in the building.
The parking situation is bad. It took me 9 months on a waiting list to get a spot. My car was broken into once in the 18 months I kept it at the Malloy.
