I rented a tiny studio apartment here, which upon moving day found out they didn't clean the unit AT ALL [food and unknowns stuck to the kitchen shelving], the gas on the stove had been left on, the electricity in the kitchen was wired wrong so no outlets [including the refrigerator] wouldn't work, and to top it all off when I went to take a bath to relax moving day frustration, the bathtub spilled water throughout the entire apartment.

On top of this the rent is overpriced for the space, no parking is available, the garbage is not secure and is gone through nightly [buy a shredder, people], and mail was stolen out of my mailbox upon moving out.

A nightmare is the LEAST descriptive word I could use for this absolute pit.

I've tried to view an apartment at the Maximillian many times over the years and apparently it is impossible to get ahold of a manager. The number on the sign they put out on the sidewalk to intice prospective renters has been disconnected since at least August 2005. Yet I saw the sign last week Febrary 2006 with the same disconnected telephone number. I left several messages on the manager's message machine via the front door buzzer system but was never phoned back. I would hate to have to deal with this unresponsive-ness if my toliet was broken or pipes burst.

Dude! I lived there once for a few months in 1982! I had the corner unit on the first floor (if you look at the bldg from the front, it is the windows on the far left.
The parking problem was terrible! Parking tickets every other day. The cockroaches were abundant. I had a Murphy Bed which was very cool, hardwood floors and the woodwork was very nice. The managers at the time were really interesting people who lived on the third floor and shared lots of freaky stories of tenants. Back then, if a carpet was soiled, they would put dye into the carpet steamer and try to dye the carpet!
Those were the days. I really liked the unit back then, but I can't imagine what it would be like today without some serious renovation.
I believe the place used to be a religious school--there were crosses carved into the woodwork in the main staircase.
