Ever since McGuire management changed from Harbor, the new management has been horrible. I always thought how much difference can there be, and interaction can I have with management to make a place less pleasant to live, and I realized.

My friends in the building have broken their lease and paid a penalty just to get out and not have to deal with the management.

I am curious. You stated that the "interactions" with the management is poor so your friends decided to move. I am just wondering, how does interaction with the apartment management affect living in the apartment. I moved to this property four months ago and made 3 service requests. Except for one (see below) all were completed satisfactorily within 4 hours. I think the managers were polite but more importantly effective and efficient. I like their results orientation. Having said that, I am very frustrated with Mcquire's exclusive arrangement with Broadstripe (formerly Millenium). As a small player in the Cable TV industry, Broadstripe provides poor TV and Broadband service. I have made several requests to the management to bring in Comcast or Verizon (both offer top notch technology and service) but so far, there was no response to this. Based on my research, this is the problem with the property owner and not of the management as the owner must be willing to invest significant amount of capital to install new cable (including fiber optic cabling) to bring in true broadband (i.e. Fios) and rich Hi-Def TV offerings. The kind of money the owner does not seem to have. If I find a property as nicely managed, as nicely located as Mcquire but with Comcast or Verizon as Cable TV providers, I would move in a heartbeat. However, this has nothing to do with the property management.
