Sometimes a Manager can Screw your Whole Experience

Metropolitan was going to be the perfect place for me. I moved in roughly one and a half years ago now. At the time, the apartment manager was polite and everything seemed GREAT. I had SOME issues getting things repaired RIGHT (w/d door off track) but overall not bad.

Enter the last 2-3 months, the apartment complex got a horrible landlord and manager. Extremely unaccomidating, EXTREMELY unfriendly, EXTREMELY unprofessional. She is by the book on everything and is a total witch. I have lived in about 3-4 apartments in my lifetime and this one BY FAR takes the award for WORST manager. When living at Metropolitan Park Apartments feels like the apartment manager is actually the tenat and you are the landlord, doing whatever you can to accomidate HER needs.

I once had a simple request for a delivery to be held in the office or the back storage room like prior experiences and she told me no. Said it wasn't her job to accept deliveries that were big - if they didn't fit in the front office (about a 6x6 foot cube with 2 ft of space for packages) she wouldn't take it. I had to take a day off work to accept delivery. Recently too I debated staying for another year and signing another lease - this was prior to meeting her. I asked if she could let me know which apartments were available at the 5th and 6th floor so I could get a better review. She told me she couldn't tell me anything and submit my request in writing. I was like what the HELL!'! VERY VERY VERY RUDE. BAD BAD BAD manager - by far the worse.

Don't try to go down and speak to her anytime after 3:00PM either. Just yesterday I sat downstairs a complete hour waiting for her to come. Then I called and left a message. Nothing. Extremely frustrating if you ask me.

You should also know the tenats of the apartment complex have bound together to try to get this landlord thrown out. They have been collecting signatures even though she is a friend of the management company people are talking about speaking to the owners to get this lady out.

From a facilities prospective the place just BLOWS. Just up until recently the finally replaced the BENCH that LOOKED like a picinic bench for benchpressing (made of wood) with a somewhat normal bench. The downstairs cycle doesn't work, up until recently they actually didn't even have a display unit on the cycle. It looked like someone ripped it off and they didn't replace it for a year. They finally put one back on but don't be fooled, the unit is not plugged up and it DOES NOT WORK.
The "exercise facility" bathroom door key is also not available unless you go to the front desk'! No working out and using the bathroom down stairs if your apartment is not on the first floor. What's up with that'!

Parking is a nightmare if you don't have a spot in the garage - forget-about-it! There security cameras on P2 and P3 (parking) however one doesn't work and the other has lines running through it - you couldn't see the Hamburgler stealing a Big Mac over that camera. Luckily I haven't had my car broken into! But my friends and family who have visited' Of course! Inside the garage your car gets broken into. Outside on the street your car gets STOLEN! Had a girlfriend over and she woke up the next day to find her car had be broken into and the ingnition negotiated. Someone had taken that car and rode it around like a Texas Steer at a Rodeo. Nice of them to bring it back dented.

Great neighbors! Outside you'll find the best of city colors! Homeless people, crack addicts, the mentally insane, drug dealers, and other outstanding citizens! Let's remember folks - you live right down the street from Harborview and Yesler Terrace (THE PROJECTS). The little park up the hill from the front turns into the Crack Rock Shop and Smoke after. Talk about suspicious individuals. I ALWAYS walk dates out to their car. If I didn't I'd be hearing about them on the 10/11 o'clock news! More then one occassion I left a date down in my car only to come back down to see she had been terrorized by some street bum or crack addict/pimp wanna be telling her she was prime meat or something. SICK.

Thanks for hearing me rant - don't move here - it's sucks, it's dangerous, and well... you deserve a WHOLE lot better.

*update - car got broken into finally, they tried to collect on me after I moved even though I did a walk through and everything "looked great"*

There's plenty of place to live downtown that are safe. It's not just the management that sucked it was the neighborhood. No - this isn't Kansas but there are a whole lot better options that are AWAY from the southern part of the city. From a management perspective I still believe (at the time I was there) this was the WORSE managed facility. Even after the update the place was total crap - HORRIBLE color scheme and low and behold my car ended up getting broken into right before I ended up leaving. Some crack head broke in and though my car's manual pack was a CD pack... Irregardless - the complex sucks - the management sucks and anyone who response to my honest comments as "Residents of MPA" obviously is a moron manager who thinks she speaks for all the people she "presides" over.

It is sad to see that people are writing a bad review on this apartment complex especially when they haven't lived there in 2 years. You should call these people's name when talking about the manager and company that manages the complex. I two have lived in many condos and apartments due to my job and moving often. I will admit that Metropolitan Park is not a 5 star apartment complex. Do not expext the Trump Towers or anything that an executive would live in; however expect a good clean, well managed, safe apartment now. Management has changed and that place has new standards now. First of all the last guy doesn't know what he is talking about. The office is no longer in that small room. It is now in a one bedroom apartment on the first floor. The apartment is nicely design for show and they have plenty of space for receiving packages and they have turned the small room into a WIFI room. The new manager is very accomadating and is always avaliable for you. She organizes apartment events to meet and greet your neighbors. Everyone is assigned a garage level and there is plenty of parking. The weight room has new weights. The bike, treadmill and eliptical machines work just fine. There is also a Sauna to accomdate you if you would like to relax. While working out you can watch either of the two televisions or you can listen to a surround sound stereo system. The Seattle Parks and Recreation department have cleaned up that park and it is nice now. No Drug addicts or prostitutes hanging around. I have never seen a prostitute out at night and I take my dog out around 11:30 at night. The buildinga acroos the street is a law office, a local newspaper and acting theater, along with a senior citizen condo complex. The roads are paved and they are working on the sidewalks and road as I type now. If you were doing something illegal or if you were not paying your rent on time or did something to get yourself evicted please do not blame that on the manager. And if you trashed your apartment why would you think that you would get your deposit back? Metropolitan Park, an apartment complex that has the necessities and then some including washer and dryer in the units, a fitness center, roof top with loungers and a grilling area. It is a good place to live if you want to be downtown and away from the hustle and bustle off the tourist and non stop action.
