Having lived at Met Park for 3 plus years I have formed my own opinions through observation of other tenants and their issues, the condition of the property and my own ongoing bewilderments with management.
The management has worsened with every change to what we have now, The Toni and Josh Show. Toni either has no experience in management or has not learned anything from her time on this planet. She is rude, uninformed and provides information that is totally false regardless of the topic. We are seeing less of her these days though. Josh is decent, but he is never around or busy on his cell phone. This is at least better than Toni chatting on AIM.
Recent tenants are now being forced to sign contracts that void of the management company of any package mishandling that may occur due to their negligence. Having lived in many different places, this is a first. The idea that they would let someone else take a package belonging to another tenant is absurd. The excuse provided. How can we be expected to know everyone that comes in here to get packages' 85 units' Is that hard to look up from your desk or ask for ID'
Tenants are all charged different amounts for parking depending on Not really sure, but I know that several tenants have it included while others pay $100 per month.
The tenant above us on the top floor had a fire around the Fourth of July that destroyed his deck on the roof and the exterior wall of his bedroom. The fire department was not able to pressurize the dry sprinkler system correctly since it was not marked correctly on the exterior of the building. This lead to pipes bursting in other apartments and flooding everywhere before it could be resolved. Luckily the tenant was awoken by his dog and put the fire out with a hose that was used to water plants. The poor guy had construction workers tromping through his apartment for over three months and no exterior wall on his bedroom. He appeared to take it well though. I would have sued. Heard he got a month free after he threatened to leave.
Now the recent disaster, the building is literally sliding into the park below. There is water damage on the south side that is so advanced they have decided to tear into the outer structure in an effort to stabilize it. The windows on the south side are all loose or filled in with plywood. In order to perform this work in the future (Not sure when that is given that it is already nearing the end of the productive work season in Seattle.) they have used shoring in the apartments on floors 1-4 on the south side. This shoring consists of 2x4 walls with OSB sheeting from floor to ceiling wall to wall. You can only imaging what an extra wall in your bedroom does for your living space. My friends apartment now has a 7 foot by 9 foot bedrooms instead of the 9 foot by 9 foot bedrooms with now access to the windows or sliding glass door. (Most likely a Fire Code violation, but what do they care since the sliding door and window did not work anyway due to the building moving so much)
My lease is up in a few months and we are looking hard for a house to purchase to leave this debacle before it crumbles with us in it. I will not miss the crack addicts and vagrants outside my door all hours of the day or the construction in progress next door. The view is not worth it in the long run or the location.
