I have lived at Metropolitan Park for over 5 years and had a mostly enjoyable experience until the most recent management change and it has become the worst experience I've ever had. After living there for 4 years a bookkeeping error by the new manger ended with them attempting to evict me. Then when her error was pointed out, she said I still owed a late charge!! It was almost unbelievable, I say almost because Toni was by far the most incompetent manager I have ever encountered so I really wasn't all that surprised.
The building has had problems structurally for years and the management company and the builder fought for years over who was to pay for it. When the work finally began we were subjected to construction workers entering our apartments and working out side our windows on scaffolding that blocked our views for 6 months. The dust and soot we dealt with on a daily basis was insane. Then this month when the construction finally finished, they canceled all of our leases and jacked the rent up 25%!! After dealing with incompetent management, long grueling construction, dust, dirt and the general mess of construction for 6 months we expected to finally be able to enjoy our homes, but now most of us that stuck with living there though the mess can no longer afford to live there.
Believe me, this is no place for anyone to live, especially as long as the current management company is in control. JUST SAY NO!!

After reading all the previous reviews.. I'd think one would be glad the entire structure was re-done. It seems like it was about to "slide into the park across the street" to quote. I've actually gone through an apartment there, it looks like the appliances have been replaced, the carpeting looks new(ish), the doors are beautiful, place has a lot of charm... and if you're splitting a two bedroom, it's a pretty good deal. (though the one-bedrooms are dang expensive. I nearly gagged when I saw the sticker price on them) Anyway... I just thought I'd mention I'm taking my chance with the new manager, April, who seems knowledgeable and personable. However, I'm very glad I'm not dealing with this Toni chick everyone keeps talking about like she's the -----. I've dealt with horrible property managers in the past (look up "316 on the park" sometime... It's in minneapolis, but sounds similar to the prior complaints here) If I have a change of heart later, after I've lived here for a while, I'll definately post, though. But again, I do have a good feeling about this new property manager. *crosses fingers*
