Terrible Management

I have lived in Neptune for over a year now and I'm trying to get out of my lease early. I should have never resigned my lease. I will NEVER rent from Simpson Property Group again! The way this building is managed, it's going to end up like their another property they 'manage' Solara. Seems great on the outside, but once you get to know it, it's terrible. (also I came across this for a building they manage in Renton http://www.ripoffreport.com/Landlords/Benson-Downs-Apartme/benson-downs-apartments-simp-f9za7.htm).

At Neptune, the elevators are consistently out of service. The other day all 3 elevators were out at the same time. It is common place to see the ThyssenKrupp repair truck or equipment in the parking garage. Aparently one of the elevators in the building was recalled or something. Please see http://www.seattlepi.com/local/336498_elevator24.html'sourc Instead of actually replacing the elevator, ThyssenKrupp just does onsite maintenance...if this happens on a weekend, forget about the the management office of our building caring. I avoid this elevator at all costs! It makes strange noises, runs unusually slow, and just generally feels unsafe. This is not to mention that the elevators are disgusting (either smells like dog urine/feces or human vomit). Again, on the weekends DO NOT expect anything to get cleaned up...but I will get to this in a moment.

The management office is a joke. Who knows for how long the current manager will even be in charge managing' The average manager in the building does not even last as long as a normal 1 year lease. I was on the roof last night and a fellow tenant told me that he purposely avoids her (the community manager) because she's always giving off the kind of smile you would wear in a cult. Personally she scares me, if she were the one showing me around the building before I was a tenant, I would have run away from this place.

As described above regarding the elevator, the building is a mess on the weekends. I think their cleaner has sat and sun off because every trash can (from the parking garage to the roof) is overfull by Saturday morning and does not get cleaned out until Monday when I get home from work. The carpeting in the hallways does not get vacuumed that i'm aware of. There are dents in the walls in the hallways that have been left unrepaired for months. For example, one by the main elevators on the fourth floor. It was patched up, but never painted...great place to bring your family to. There are drink spills on just about every floor near the elevator buttons that are not cleaned up. Something that I've noticed that is almost humorous is the hallways themselves. If you stand against a wall (any wall) and look down the hallway floor, you will notice that the wall does not travel in a straight line. It's almost like a snake...you really should see it, I've never seen anything like it before.

The amenities are almost not usuable. The last time (probably about a year ago) I tried to use the "have fun room", the pool balls were hidden in the manager's office because tenants near the room were complaining about the noise. This room also shuts down at 10pm, weekdays and weekends. The BBQs on the roof won't ignite (the clicker on the BBQ is broken and is a noisemaker only now). You have to remember to bring matches or a lighter in order to use it. This is very unsafe and quite dirty. The gills are never cleaned regularly and it's pretty nasty to touch them when you are lifting the grill up in order to put the match close to the gas source. It used to be great when there were "happy hours", which were weekly or monthly events sponsored by the management office and an opportunity to meet fellow residents, but I think this practice was axed too. It was a major selling point to me when I first moved in, but it seems like a gimmic or lie to me now. Do not be fooled.

I don't know about dogs since I don't have any, but many people do.

The rent is reasonable for comparable places in the area.

Some people complain about noise. I don't notice anything. I think it is people who live facing the courtyard. I've heard it echos in there, but I don't know about that.

Another annoying this is all the spam you get on your door. There is a little clip on your front door that is regularly used for business in the area to put up fliers and what not. It's such a waste of paper. When management changes in the building, you can be sure to get a flood of notices and fliers from the manager. This usually happens a couple months after the management change goes into effect. Seattle is a pretty green city, I'm surprised that they would waste so much paper. Also you kinda stop reading after the first few notices on your door.

The parking garage is nothing too impressive. There are 2 floors and no assigned parking, which is very nice. The only downside is that some people park in 2 spots, or just right on the line. That's not really a big deal for me though, there are plenty of spots.

The finishes in the actual apartments can be nice and that's one of the things that originally attracted me. This building could be and was soo cool. I was super excited when I moved in, but not anymore.

Eventually this building will just get very tired through neglect of the management. I am glad to have lived here before it got too bad, but I look and hear about Solara and think it's only a matter of time before Neptune slips from "Luxury Apartments" to "Apartments". I wouldn't call them luxury now, but hey who am I' Just someone warning people to find another place to live. There are plenty of other great places in Seattle, stay away from Neptune.

I am a current resident at the Neptune, and I second everything mentioned in the above review! The leasing manager is dreadful and keeps putting fliers on my door- this is where I live, not where I work, no need for the TPS reports! I thought one of the latest fliers was hilarious; it was sent to remind the tenants that their trash and recycling needs to go into and not next to the trash chute and recycle bins. It's not that residents don't know how to use a trash chute or the recycle bins, ITS THAT THEY'RE ALWAYS FULL (if they're even in the trash room)! I believe this can be accredited to the rather new, extremely lazy grounds keeper.
