My wife and I stayed at the Olympus for 6 months in a 525 sq/ft studio apartment facing the east side on Western Ave on the upper floors.
The actual rent was $1125/month plus $115/month for parking and an additional $35/month for a 5 x 5 storage unit. This brings the total to $1275/month.
We had to pay additional security deposit of $500 (refundable) plus an administrative fee of $250 (non-refundable) and application fees of $70. Total charges: $820.
I found the application process was a bit cumbersome comparing to other places I have rented from.
The apartment in itself was fantastic. Had a great view of the city. The kitchen was nice with granite countertops and standard large kitchen appliances. I loved the Italian deck door. Had a roomy bathroom, wide hallway, deep closets and a washer/dryer in the unit.
The complex had many additional amenities. Computer access, business center, bbq courtyard, exercise facility, TV room and concierge staff.
On an additional note, there were frequent activities such as monthly movies, seasonal parties or wine & cheese tasting. Unfortunately for me, it seemed as though these activities always conflicted with my standard work schedule.
The building was fairly resistant to the noise of downtown, but if you are expecting peace and quiet, don't live downtown. At the time of our lease, there was multi level construction project going on across the street that contributed to the daily chaos.
For the most part, all the concierge staff were great. But unfortunately, staff seemed to come and go frequently. There were some that were obviously better than others.
We left the Olympus after our lease expired basically because we couldn t afford to live there any longer. The rates and fees jumped to around $1900/month when all was said and done if we were to stay on month by month.
Overall it is a great place if you like downtown living. A steep hill between 1st, Western and Elliot makes navigating the area difficult for a person with a disability. Additionally, the lack of accessible bus stops on Western was a problem for us because if this hill.
