High end apartment, cut corners in designing

We live in a one bedroom apt., which looks great on the surface until you start looking closely. The light fixture in the bathroom is just barely hanging onto the huge whole for the wires; will surely fall in the next earth quake. The closet doors are way cheap, constantly falling off their tracks and if you take them off good luck getting them back on! The w/d unit is terrible! I tried to use it twice and it never spun the clothes dry, just heated them in a lump so that when it was done it was this sour, mildewed hard lump of towels. You can't get rid of the smell of mildew from the unit. We finally just took it out and stored it. That opened a new issue though because apparently if you don't tap off the line right you can get smells of sewer up the pipe because of some drainage issues. Ick! Parking can be difficult on the street at times, but I park there all the time and can always find a spot eventually that's not too far away. Dressing the windows is an expensive cost, but a necessary one as they are so big, letting out heat in the winter and people can see in almost all units!
Although it definitely has some draw backs, it is a nice, classy looking building. I love the chalkboard feature in the aparments and it is a very quiet and unique building. Don't buy the new addition condos as they don't have the character like the original building. Management is currently being passed from the contractor to onsite, so currently they are doing all kinds of tests and updates, but the onsite manager (Bruce) is a nice guy that does a good job. He recently drove in on his day off to make sure that a facilty that had broken pipes was repaired and back up within the day. He also comes in early to make sure the sidewalks are cleared on snow days. There are laundry facilities on every floor, which if you do your laundry mid-week you will have no problem with getting machines. Additional, their new system does require a laundry card, but you don't have to pay for the reloads, just have to catch Bruce in the office.
The home owner's association is increasing their fees again next year, and makes the already expensive rent more exorbant, but you have to pay if you want a nice facility. Overall, it's a nice facility. Definitely have lived in MUCH worse places and can't say that I've lived in a better apartment.
