Not a good choice

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I lived in this building in a basement studio for a few months while trying to find a new place, and I worked in the building for another year caregiving for a tenant. The building is absolutely NOT worth the rent.
It's a very old apartment building, which is really quite cool to look at. The floors are hardwood and the bathrooms are pretty decently sized. There the good parts end. The plumbing is horrible. In the two months I spent in the basement, we had to have people come check our pluming three times and a pipe burst underneath our floor. The electricity often went out and each unit has these horrible, ancient, fuses that have to be replaced every time the power fails. It's annoying, to say the least. The kitchens are TINY and extremely difficult to move around. The walls and floors are thin and most units have some degree of water damage or extremely visible aging. The neighbors are very easy to hear and it's especially annoying if you leave below someone with pets, since you can hear the animals skittering about all day and night.
While I lived and worked in the building, there were three management changes and while each landlord seemed nice enough in his or her own way, it's still an aggravation to have constant changes in management.
The rent prices are EXTREMELY high in this building and for the care you get and the nonexistent parking and amenities, it's just not worth it.
