Not So Bad!

The Royal Manor really isn't that bad of a place to live! I noticed that some of the reviews were harsh, but also kinda old. They've done some slight renovation and repainted the walls since the last review. The blinds are kinda old, but if you fill out a form I think you can get them changed for free. But to me...they're just blinds.
I live in a 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom unit, which is always surprising to people, but yes, those do exist! The bedroom is a decent size; bathrooms are pretty small but do fit a sink, toilet and stand up shower. It's definitely been a big plus having our own bathrooms, especially coming from the dorms! The rooms are all supposed to be the same size which is true of the three in the hallway. The two by the kitchen are slightly larger I think - for our unit, the one on the left of the kitchen has two windows, whereas the one on the right has a larger closet.
But since everyone gets so much of their own space, it's compensated through the shared living space. The living room is on the smaller size, but the room that's lacking the most space is the kitchen. It's definitely not meant for 5 people. Two people actually cooking and using the kitchen can be kind of hectic. Of course, not everyone has the same schedule, so there weren't big conflicts in using the kitchen, but it does get very snug quickly!
Like most apartments around the U-District, the walls are pretty thin and you can hear pretty well through them. The people above and below us tend to be kinda loud, but it's an apartment complex that's filled with majority college students so it's expected. Since The Royal Manor is on a corner street, the outside noise can definitely get kinda loud. Sirens and drunk people on the sidewalk sometimes sound like they are coming right at you, but it's something that all my roommates and I eventually got used to.
My rooommate had her car up here and the parking spaces are kinda cramped, but they are covered with a garage door. The washer and dryers (2 of each) are in the basement/garage. It's a little creepy going down there. My clothes are usually still kinda damp from the dryer, but other than that, they work fine. They are quarter machines.
Apartment management were always quick to respond and usually had someone come over the next day to help solve the problem, unless it's an emergency...which we haven't had, so don't know how they are then. Internet is also included, garbage and electricity are not.
