I just discovered this website and if I would have known about it sooner... Myself and my husband have lived here for 4 years now and it has gotten so bad. Yes we may be close to Hwy 99 (Pacific Hwy) but that is not where our issues come from. We have gone thru numerous managers, and none of them seem to really care about what goes on here. They let anyone move in and we have had too many drug dealers, domestic disturbers, prostitutes that have lived here that have caused great concern. We even had someone living downstairs from us who ran over his girlfriend in the parking lot in front of myself and my husband and yet nothing was done and he was not kicked out, though he was arrested. There is so much that goes on here that Des Moines Police have stopped responding to most calls. I had to call this weekend due to a resident doing drugs in his car parked right out front of our building in the middle of the day and of course they never showed up. And there are children that live here!! Our apartment is super tiny (we have a 1 bedroom, 535 sq ft paying almost 750.00 a month and don't even have a washer & dryer) and when things do need to be fixed either our requests are not filed so it takes 5-10 calls to get someone out to our apartment and once we do get someone here they fix everything with nails, super glue or duct tape. We have just stopped filing work requests. This was a really nice place when we first moved in but our rent has been raised too many times especially for our tiny apartment. Now that we are expecting as soon as our lease is up we are out of here, if we can last that long. We just may break the lease. Please if you are considering moving here don't. There is crime that does leak into the parking lots, especially the buildings right behind KFC, which is where we are. It is not worth it especially if safety is important to you.

I lived there from 2003 to 2007 when Simpson Property Group owned the complex. I loved living there; all the management were nice and the grounds were always clean. We had Des Moines police drive through the complex at least 2 times a night. Our apartment was very spacious; I never felt boxed in. They didn't have a weight limit on pets, so we could take our black lab with us. I have noticed they changed their pet policy, and now don't accept animals over 25 lbs. I was very happy with the apartments when I lived there. We never had any problems, except for a noisy neighbor above us, and the management couldn't do anything about that anyway, and the rent got way too expensive.
