I lived at the Shelby for two years and will miss it a lot. The staff is wonderful, the place is quiet, and the people are great. We were on the other side of the building (facing 4th) from the 'dorm' so we did not have any issues with the art students. It's a beautiful, modern property; you will love it. I highly recommend this building as a place to call home.
4/9/07: I am writing this as an addition to my previous entry written on 3/5/07. While I did have a great time living in the Shelby and the ratings in that review are accurate of my experience there, I have to tell people that upon moving out I was lied to, ignored, and cheated. My roommate and I cleaned and repaired our apartment to the point that the apartment manager told us to stop, that we were doing too much and gushed on and on about how much we would be missed as tenants. Everything went smoothly during the exit walk through and we had no reason not to expect our deposit refunded to us. I then got a statement in the mail that said they replaced 4 of the 6 blinds in the apartment and we would only get $26 of the $461 back. Blinds replacement was never mentioned...because there was nothing wrong with them. It's very suspicious that the total cost was so close to our total refund without going over. We got screwed. To make it worse, numerous phone calls and an email have been completely ignored. Don't rent from these people.
