Tower 801 Apartments

I lived here for about a year and a half. I'm planning on moving out this May.
It was okay. The main reason I'm moving out is because it's overpriced and too small.
It's really not worth the amount that they charge. Location is great, but it really isn't that great. Parking is difficult to find, especially when there's a show at the Paramount, so garage parking is crucial.. but way too expensive.
The elevator sucks. There's two elevators for the entire 25 floors. When people move in or out, they reserve one elevator for that tenant (which is great when moving in or out, but sucks for everyone else).
There are a ton of dogs, so unless you are a dog lover don't live here.
I haven't had any problems with the staff. They are extremely nice when they are showing people around. On a normal day to day basis, they're not as approachable, but whenever I asked them a question they were really polite.
The security guard is awesome. He's the coolest guy ever! He has been extremely helpful. He tends to solve all of my problems.
There's noise, but it's the city... so you should expect it. Honestly, I haven't had any noise problems. Apparently my next door neighbors are really loud, but I never hear them.
There are random outbursts from tenants and homeless/drunk people. My boyfriend's car was damaged because some guy on the 5th floor was throwing ketchup/beer bottles off of his balcony. I've seen homeless/drunk people pee in the little garden in front of our building. I've caught and paid for cabs for drunk people on several different occasions.
What else... well the building is old. The carpet is great, the appliances aren't great, but they aren't the worst either.
All in all, not worth the price, but not a bad place to live. Hope this helps!

I agree, we're moving out in May as well. It has been a good experience (better than all my other apts so far in Seattle) but we feel it's overpriced for the space and location. And they want to raise our rents which seems a little odd since it's alredy overpriced...
The security guard is AMAZING! He will truly be missed when I leave. He makes sure to know all of our names brings packages to us and plays with our pets! He truly makes this place feel like home.
That being said, it is DOWNTOWN. There is TONS of construction going on and I have been woken up frequently at 5am from construction. I knew that going in to it though so I can't really complain.
Parking is a joke. If I didn't have to drive to Bellevue for work I would definitely get rid of my car. It's $200/month for not guaranteed parking, and if you forget to put your permit up at midnight on the first day of the month you get a $35 fee that they will not remove. It's ridiculous. The parking has been the worst part about the apartment. I wish the building would take control over it again so that at least we could negotiate with the dragon lady (the apt manager) instead of the HORRIBLE republic parking. Staff is very nice except for the manager however. She seems to have a stick up her ass.

Okay.. so here is what they are telling me.. I paid 900 for security deposit. 500 was refundable and 400 was non refundable. Legally the non refundable portion is not supposed to be called a deposit but rather a fee. My understanding was that the non refundable portion would cover the normal wear and tear.. such as carpet cleaning and painting. However, the lady I just talked to told me that the non refundable portion was just a cost for living at Tower and having my pet there. It was for general administrative costs. I'm a little confused because I thought that's what the rent was for. (I was paying $1100 for a 400 sq ft studio.) I knew before moving into tower that getting my deposit back was going to be difficult (I read all the reviews below about how it's a pain in the ass.) However, I did not expect to have to pay an additional 200! The problem is the non refundable portion of the deposit. Because they are calling it a deposit rather than a fee, I assumed that it was going to go towards the normal wear and tear for my apartment. I didn't realize that it was a sunk cost. I'm going to go home and read my lease.
For those planning on moving in or moving out, please be aware of this. It totally sucks to have to pay $1070 (my calculation was a little off in the first post) to move out.
