Good and bad

The good:
1. Professional staff. Excellent, responsive maintenance. Very good concierge service.
2. Very well kept up building. The common areas were cleaned every day.
3. Very good grocery store on ground floor ( but expensive ).
4. Central location, easy access to all Metro routes, Amtrak. Easy bus access to airport. An easy walk to restaurants and nightlife.
5. The management returned my damage deposit in full with no fuss, promptly. I left a few weeks before the end of my lease and they refunded the unused part of my rent when they rented the apartment.
6. Newer full-sized washer and dryer in each apartment.

The bad:
1. Hordes of hobos, crackheads, and homeless people on your doorstep and all over the neighborhood. High crime area.
2. Incredibly noisy if you have an apartment facing the street. This is exacerbated by poor noise insulation/flimsy wall construction. Also, lots of noise from adjacent apartments due to thin walls. Difficult to sleep at night due to the noise.
3. Very expensive compared to similar sized apartments a little farther from the downtown core.
4. Extremely difficult to move into/out of due to no load/unload zone anywhere in the vicinity of the entrance. Usually no other parking available in this area.
5. Above the first level many of the apartments have no access to the elevator. When you move, you may have to carry your belongings ( including furniture ) up flights of stairs depending on where your apartment is located.
6. They provided two large, locked bicycle store rooms, but then stuffed them full of recycle bins and junk that tenants left behind, so you can't get to your bicycle if you store it in the room.

The most desirable apartments in the complex would be on the first level, facing the courtyard but not facing the street.

it is so sad that the mayor / city council are completely in denial on the problems of the city center and this extends into china town - drugs, thugs, bums, begging and alcoholics ! china town is not pretty at nite ! the grocery store is convenient, but prices are really marked up - i am amazed at so many people shopping here on the weekends - making traffic and getting thru the parking lot a hassle !
