My best friend lived here for a year and with his AMAZING view, I too was tempted to move in. I went in and filled out all the paperwork with Colleen. We went thru the entire process and was approved.

I called her a week later after not hearing anything else. All of a sudden, she couldnt be bothered with me but had a new employee tell me that they didnt have an vacancies. WHAT! I was LIVID and INSISTED on speaking with Colleen.

Colleen REFUSED to get on the phone. I demanded my application fee back and was told a check would be sent. After a week, nothing. I called back and was told it was sent. Long story short, FINALLY 2 weeks later after going down and making a HUGE scene in the office (it was a DAMN good thing Colleen wasnt there that day), I got my check in the mail.

Also during that time while visiting my friend, I noticed a new black family moved in the unit that I was supposed to move into. I think thats more than a coincidence (Colleen is also black). Ive never pulled the racism card but I TRULY believe this was a factor. I had VERY little time to find somewhere else to live so I never pursued filing with an equal housing agency.

Take my words, the view might be great and the apts might be decent... but the manager ruins it ALL!

I hope you persue this. What she did is illegal and she should have to explain why she promised you an apartment then took it back and gave it to someone else. If you suspect it is discrimination you should really persue it so she doesn't keep doing this
