I first moved into villa appia at the begining of the year. I thought it was the most beautiful apartment complex on lake city way that was pretty affordable. One MONTH after i moved in, the SECURED parking garage got broken into and several cars got hit. I was one of them. They took over 300 cds.. and CLOTHES!! I was shocked! This is a secured garage with video cameras and they couldn't prevent the break in from happening. I had to pay $400 to get my window replaced and i immediately tried to get out of my contract with villa appia. Theresa, the landlord, told me i had to get a lawyer. I'm fresh out of college and did not have money to pay for a lawyer so i stuck it out. A few months later, i was going downstairs to the garage early in the morning for work and the car who's parked next to me had all of his wheels missing! It was barely standing on one spare tire. They took his wheels!! His drivers side window was UNDERNEATH of my car. How can ANYONE have enough time to enter a secured garage, neatly CUT a window out and remove FOUR LARGE SUV tires.. and carry them all away!!! It's RIDICULOUS! Can you imagine if any one of the residents from villa appia walked into the garage while this poor mans car was being broken into' If they have the capacity to do that to a car, imagine what they'd do to someone who caught them in the act! I spoke with several residents there after these break ins occured.. and they told me that break ins happen all the time, and nothings ever really been done to prevent them. I remember when i first signed my lease, Theresa assured me that it was a safe and secured place to live. She is a LIAR. DO NOT believe everything she says. She just wants to fill up her vacant apartments and take your money. She shows no interest or sympathy towards you even if you get your car broken into. I've also heard several cars have been stolen/broken into where people park on the side, adjacent to the garage entrances so be careful! I STRONGY do NOT RECCOMEND living here. i NEVER felt safe and the landlord is HORRIBLE. She has unsatisfactory customer service. Worst renting experience of my life. On a lighter note, the apartments were built poorly. The side wall next to my fridge wasn't even straight and the hallways smell like spoiled trash. Their plants everywhere are unmanicured and i could hear my neighbors engaging in LOUD sexual activity in ALL hours of the day, night and EARLY morning. The only thing positive that i can say about villa appia is that he guy that helps theresa out, the one with the dog, he's really nice. but Theresa is the worst landlord i've ever gone through. Also, villa appia looks beautiful on the outside, but don't let that fool you. Looks aren't always everything. It's whats on the inside that counts.

In a response to the poor rating about the apartment's car break in's and management:
Villa Appia is a beautiful apartment complex with a helpful staff. No establishment can protect against break ins. Every possible step can be taken to prevent unwanted activity but nothing will keep you completely safe. If someone wants in they will find a way. I live in belletown and have viewed the complex. Like anywhere in this city, you do NOT leave valuables in the car. Any item of value can and evetually will result in a break in. In no situation does and establishment take resposiblity for outside crime. Streets smarts go a lot farther than video cameras in preventing crime. This is a poor review and does reflect any apartment security. And actually, i found the management quite helpful and professional, everything is business no more no less.
