A six month lease is standard, and your rent will be raised if you decide to stay. However, you will see no improvements to your unit or building as a result of the increase.

You may go without heat for a week or more at a time during the coldest months of the year. The laundry machines downstairs will ruin your clothes and eat your quarters. When you move out you will be charged for repairs that were never done before you moved in, even if a maintenance request was submitted, and when you try to get your money back... the resident manager will tell you it's not worth your time, then hang up on you after being unhelpful.

I would not recommend this apartment community to anyone. There are many better options in the area that won't cause nearly as much headache.
