a decent place to live

My wife and I needed a place to live near my job, so after reading all the reviews of the local apartments I decided to try Westridge Park. The previous poster said that they don't qualify tenants - well, we nearly didn't get an apartment here because of a problem with the apt. management's qualifying company, moco inc. not being able to contact my previous landlord even though I was able to call the landlord's office and get through every single time I tried... Hey Westridge, change your qualifying company! Anyways, once they finally got off their dead a$$es, moco inc decided that my high credit score and flawless rent payment history would be acceptable (snif) and we got to move in. That was 3 months ago.

Okay, so moco inc blows, at least the whole time we were frantically trying to work this out we had good contact with Mona in the manager's office. She got us in to our apartment as soon as she had the approval to do so and was very apologetic about moco's service. Over the last 3 months she has always been nice as has all of the rest of the office staff. We have not moved out yet, so I can't comment on the move-out experience.

Day to day life here is just fine with only a few quibbles. I've never lived anywhere that there were no problems, so some are to be expected. Here's the rundown:

Noise - Sometimes I can hear my neighbors, especially the crying child 1 apartment over. Also, about once or twice a week I hear some idiot's boom-boom music from the parking lot. During the daytime you might hear some construction noise as they convert to condos, but mostly these noises are hard to hear. It's far quieter here than at other apartments I've lived at.

Parking - if you only have one car and no friends, it's great :) You get 1 designated spot, and there is open parking along the front of the complex. Sometimes neighbors have friends park directly behind their spot, making it more tricky to maneuver, but that only happens once or twice a month (football games, usually).

Grounds - seems to be kept up, grass mowed, looks good.

Safety - plenty of light, a night watchman patrols the grounds, I haven't heard any gunshots or fighting at all nor have I seen the police here. My wife feels safe here, and if there were any signs of her being in danger we'd be long gone. There's a police station one block away. I walk and run all over this area and have yet to be worried for my safety - and at 5'6" I'm not particularly intimidating :)

Construction - they are converting half the buildings to condos. Nothing really special here, good electric range, fridge has ice maker, tub & sinks have good working fixtures, baseboard heat with separate controls for kitchen, living room, and bedroom works, stacked washer/dryer is small but okay. Walls are thick enough that we don't hear neighbors unless we open windows.

Maintenance - good story: The ice maker in the fridge wasn't working, so I called and requested service in the morning with special instructions to not let the cats out. When I got back in the evening I had a working ice maker, cats were still inside, everything else was as I left it. Good job!

Overall, I have been pretty happy here, and I would rent from them again.
