Ghetto Ghetto Ghetto

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002
I moved up from down south, only to have seen this apartment from the online pictures. From the pictures, I saw a nice pond, well kept maintance, and nice floorplans. As well as affordable rent. Well, when I first drove the place, I knew I was in for 6 months of fun. The fireplace is a hole going through the wall. The carpet was just put in, very cheaply I might add. No screen door, or screens for the windows or oven fan. After 1 month, my car was broken into. My neighbors were drug dealers, and I noticed that people here were crammed in, as if 4 or 5 people shared ONE ROOM!!! There were notices sent out to warn of robberies, as they were occuring at night. Kids were very rude, cursing loudly, causing trouble. One kid even had the nerve of putting white powder in an envelope in the mail drop!!! I will admit that the maintenance has been getting A LOT better, as more and more workers are landscaping and working on the trees, bushes, and trash laying around. But this is to attract more occupants, as people move in and out frequently. The assistant mananger is very friendly, as she is new. I was scared everyday of leaving my apartment, as I heard of numerous robberies and muggings. And people are very rude and inconsiderate here. I have a carport that people just park in whenever they want, fully realizing that the space is paid for. The cops are always driving in and out, but they are never there when you need them. Whoever stole my car stereo must have watched me for quite some time, as they knew my schedule and where i kept eveything. Everybody litters, and you should see the mail stop after every one dumps their mail on the floor, when a garbage can is only 2 feet away. The majority of residents collect welfare, don?t speak english and don?t understand the meaning of Neighbor!
Very old buildings, with studios to 2 bedrooms. Parking is first come first serve, and when you have to park far from your place, there is a great chance your car will not be there the next day. I remember one day coming home from work and finding a bag of drugs in front of my neighbor?s door, as they must of forgotten it or left it for a friend. The strong odor of marijuana is often smelt at night.
Don?t get me started on the laundry rooms and exercise/spa/pool areas. There are maybe 3 or 4 actually FUNCTIONING washers and dryers. most of the time you go in, and 1/3rd of the washers are out of order and leaking a river of water. The dryers are worthless. You spend a hour drying clothes, take them out and they are completely WET! People have and will take your clothes so beware!!! The rude people will open each dryer to see whose clothes it is, and not press the Start button again. So if you leave, come back and realize that your dryer has not been on for an half an hour, be prepared to wait longer. And the planes, I almost forgot! Being about a 2 minute drive from the airport, be forewarned of the never ending planes that are very very very loud. I don?t hear them that much anymore, but they do bug you when you?re trying to watch a movie and you miss half the dialouge to a sonic boom.
Unless you a crack addict, welfare receipient, or a lazy bum, DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!! It is in the ghetto. I had already signed a lease before realizing it was too late.
There are better deals at other upscale apartments. Most places offer the first month free.
< fun.
