DON'T MOVE HERE

I do not recommend WillowCrest to people anymore. This place now seems to care mostly about getting as much money from tenants as possible. I have lived here for over 13 years, and in less than 1.5 years, will have had $260 in rent increases by 7/1/08. I can only get contracts for less than six months. For years they offered me, and other longtime tenants, no contracts after the initial one. I will soon pay $885 a month for a fairly small one-bedroom apartment, after I sign a contract for 5 months. I am disabled and have for sometime felt too ill to move elsewhere, and likely will for sometime, being in chemotherapy.
If tenants do not sign a contract, they will be charged $100 a month more. That should be illegal. No contracts were offered for years, once tenants had been here for over six months, as far as I know. Except for Section 8 tenants who get a one-year lease, all the contracts are for less than six months, as far as I know. Each rent increase with a new contract is greater than the previous one.
The grounds are well-kept, there are a few flowers and some flowering bushes, but about 25 trees have been cut down in two years, including the magnificent large willow. It was slightly diseased, and they did not get it diagnosed and treated.
Next to a row of our buildings is a noisy construction project of building 30 townhouses, started about 15 months ago. The project destroyed the woods and scooped out much of the sloping land.
The longtime manager was recently transferred to another property, and an inexperienced one replaced her. No notice was given to tenants about this. Many tenants are very unhappy about this. Our previous manager lives here yet with some family, and the current manager lives at the property our previous manager now works at.
I live on limited income, as do several other tenants. WillowCrest, and Investco, the corporation that owns it, do not seem to care about people like us.

If there is one thing I can't stand, it's people who blame others for their own misfortunes and are completely negative about everything. This sounds like someone who is bitter about the circumstances of their life and thinks someone else should take the blame. My advice to this person is take some personal responsibility, take control of your life and MOVE! Why don't you have any friends or family to help you move? Because no one can tolerate your whining and complaining! My advice to anyone reading that review is to check out the property for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

I would like to thank the tenant who took the time to rate this complex. Clearly, the property firm operating this facility care little about the livelihood of the persons keeping them in business. Requiring residents, especially those who are established, to sign five month leases and conveniently raising the rent upwards of 30% with a $100 'or else' penalty, boarders on extortion. Expecting someone on a fixed income complicated by having a potentially fatal illness, to get up and move after several years is really abhorrent. As most people are aware, the cost of moving can easily run $2000 in out-of-pocket expenses. So, again, thank you for taking the time and to "Anonymous", pray you never find yourself in this person's shoes.
