There are many reasons that the Whimsical Pig appears appealing. It is enclosed by a fence, it has large green areas, and its apartments are designed well. However, there are many other factors that any would-be renter should know:

1) The complex does not include ANY utilities, although they claim to include W/S/G. A fee is included with your rent, but the complex does not fix problems with the garbage companies. (late pickups - like days late - are common).

2) All of the appliances are OLD. They do not have modern amenities, only the cheapest versions so that they can check the "washer/dryer" button on websites.

3) The complex is NOISY. Trains honk in the night and children constantly scream around the complex. No adult supervision is enforced.

4) Parking is terrible. You're unlikely to find a spot by your actual apartment, let alone a garage.

5) The price of cable is more than the price charged by the cable company, and the complex requires that cable be bought from them, if you choose to get cable.

6) The complex is DIRTY, with beer bottles on the lawn, peeling paint, and dog feces on the lawns. From far away, the place looks great, but look more closely and you'll see the flaws that are never fixed.

In general, the complex will only clean the obvious places. It seems much more interested in filling the revolving vacancies than satisfying the people that live here.

Trains are a problem all over the city, but everything else is pretty much true. Caveat emptor.
