Total Deception

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

To anyone out there reading this, I was a tenant at Bryn-Mar Village for the past year. My experience at the Bryn-Mar Apartments was not one that I can say honestly was positive.
Upon moving in to Building 1811, Apartment #3, I was assured by management that a number of issues I had with the apartment would be addressed to my satisfaction. Allow me to mention some of the issues: There was a rag stuffed inside the garbage disposal. The apartment smelled of cat urine. There was flashing throughout the apartment, meaning that the apartment was not thoroughly painted. The bathroom ceiling and walls had a brownish discoleration to them and the wall above the shower was cracked. The bathroom ceiling fan was plugged with dust, lint, hair and whatever else from past tenants. The top of the kitchen cabinets was full of grease and lint and old dishes. One of the kitchen cabinets had a previous tenant's medication still in it. The striker plate to the deadbolt on the front door was missing, which would compromise anyone's safety, allowing access with minimal effort. All of these issues were brought to the attention of management and I was assured that these things would be addressed. They were not.
In November 2007, the building next to me caught fire. I had thoroughly cleaned my apartment the previous night and arrived home the following day to an apartment that smelled foul of smoke. I was assured by management that I would receive a complimentary carpet shampooing in an effort to rid my apartment of the smell of smoke. This was never done. In fact, on one other occasion, I was promised a complimentary carpet cleaning and never recieved it. Yet, when I moved out, I was charged to have the carpets cleaned and the unit painted, even though the apartment was not painted prior to my moving in. I highly urge anyone considering moving in to the Bryn-Mar Village or any of its affiliated apartments to steer clear of the dishonesty on the part of the Bryn-Mar Village management team.
