My husband and I just moved here from Wisconsin. We had never stepped foot in Washington, and so we were basing our decision(s) on internet findings, photos, reviews, etc. I researched places to live for nearly 4 months, and I was really worried because everytime I found a "nice looking place," reviews scared me off. But the more I looked, the more I realized that the only people who tend to write reviews are those who aren't ever satisfied, those who like to complain, and those whose expectations are above and beyond the typical human being. What I had found in 4 months in reviews, were 99% unsatisfactory clients/tenants, and I knew that was ridiculous. There is no way that every single apartment community in the Tacoma area is so terrible and so disgusting that nobody could stand to live there.

So we trusted our gut, and knew that the Northern part of Tacoma was a safe place to be, and that University Place as Fircrest had a good reputation as well. Lakeside landing is located right in the middle of all of that and so the location is nice & safe.

As far as what we think of Lakeside Landing thus far (1month of living here) is that the leasing agents are great! They are very friendly, and we even have run into a couple of them out and about in the city, and they stop and talk to you. Many of them know you by name and the staff who run the clubhouse later in the day are fabulous!! They are so friendly, and they often have snacks, chips, drinks in the clubhouse for you if you stop down in the evening - and Friday nights they have "Movie Night" which nobody really seems to join in (except the same 4-5 people) but again, FREE snacks and great company.

The facilities are just great. They have a workout center with equipment that I think is adaquate. Some of the equipment isn't "brand new" like some of the workout centers around town but they have a nice elipital and treadmill, which is what I use and so I love it. The huge flatscreen TV in the workout room is awesome as well. My husband and I have taken a dip in the pool only 1x and the whirlpool 1x and both met our expectations. The pool is closed now (after Labor Day) which is a bummer, but understandable, as insurance/liability they community has only covers from Memorial Day-Labor Day. So the pool is only for looks now, but again, it's a great pool area.

I am currently finishin up 4 loads of laundry as I type this, and the washers and dryers in our building worked just fine. If you dont OVERLOAD the washers/dryers, they do exactly what you need. Obvioulsy if you stuff too much in the dryer, you will need more time to dry your belongings but otherwise they cost $1.25/$1.00, just as you would pay at the laundromat. I truly think those who complain about their effectiveness cannot judge what the units can wash/dry at one time.

The community is very quiet. It's great, but also my only "complaint" about our time here. It's great that I am not kept up at night from loud neighbors, but at the same time we haven't met a whole lot of friends (we're 26 years old) and so we both were hoping to meet up with some people our age here, but people typically keep to themselves (again a good thing, but in our position we WANTED people to hang out with, we we moved out here knowing nobody). The ages of tenants range from very young children to very old individuals. I woul day most people are 40 but you haver you handful of tenants that are young too, but just a little outnumbered by the older folks.

The only other downfall (in MY opinion) is the outside community. I am talking about the neighborhoods outside of Lakeside Landing. Where we moved from in Wisconsin, houses were much cheaper and more affordable. Therefore I am used to a little nicer looking neighborhoods, and not smaller, run-down homes. I hate saying that, but it was my first reaction when we moved here. But they are 100% safe from what I hear, and nothing to be afraid of. It just wasn't visually appealing to me at first. But if you drive a little bit in any direction you will run into some nice neighborhoods - so no a big deal.

Hope this review helps anybody like ourselves who are second guessing their move to Lakeside Landing. I would totally reccommend it, a bit pricy from what we paid in Wisconsin, but living is higher out here, but the Lakeside Landing community is one of my favorite parts of our move. SO DONT BE SCARED TO MOVE HERE!! IT"S GREAT!!
