I think that I'm in a unique position because I haven't live here but I almost moved it.
I had already handed the management my $250.00 deposit and made an apointment to come in with the rest of the required fees for a one year lease when I learned the truth. The Tacoma Police Department informed me that this community is one of their highest service areas. They are there all the time and the management refuses to help them out by participate in their crime prevention programs. I also heard from a 3 year tenent that had just moved out of the community. She didn't have anything good to say about it either.
The same day I learned this, I went down to get my deposit back. They had the deposit for less than one week but informed me that it was theirs to keep if I didn't move in. The department manager didn't try to change my mind about moving in, she didn't even ask why the change of heart. She fixated on the money and stressed that if I didn't move in, I would loose it. Well, I didn't move in and I lost my full $250.00 deposit but I feel that I'm better off than if I had signed a 1 year lease and than found out the place isn't safe and the management team doesn't care.

That really makes me angry to hear. This is exactly how these people operate. They do not give a rats ass about any tenant or possible tenate which is why they always have to have promotions for people to move in. when i left there were really no tenates left and i heard they are going bankrupt
