My wife and I moved into these apartments less than 2 months ago, after signing a 6 month lease. There have been work crews there most of the time we have been there painting and fixing up the grounds. We recently received notice that we had to move out -as they are remodeling our unit soon- and had the option of moving to another complex owned by the company or to another apartment in our complex, or out completely (no mention of our deposit returned should we move out.) They say that we have to pay an additional $100 a month and sign a new lease. My wife talked with the housing authority and they said that there have been many complaints from tenants and that this remodeling has been scheduled since June. Unfortunately there was no mention of this at all when they pitched us for how great the place was and how they are improving it. We recently found mushrooms growing in our apartment which they came and picked without actually killing. There are no floorboards and some of the baseboard heaters are damaged. The apartment is otherwise clean inside, with the exception of the cockroaches we find every few days. Currently there is a 10pm curfew that you cannot be out in the parking lot or on the steps of your building without risking eviction due to loitering. The neighbors are mostly good people, however the neighborhood teens that hang out in the parking lot are suspicious. There is no working security gate, but a friend did run into security gaurds when he was out after 10pm. The pools are nasty, the basement level entry way to our apartment stinks and has litter that comes back every time we clean it. The staff is friendly, though occasionally unhelpful. They also made us get rid of our German shephard puppy that we brought when we moved in because he was too big. Most of the views are not bad, but what gets me is the shadiness of raising rent in the middle of the lease ...
