I have lived here since April 2005 .The first week I lived here I thought I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life .It was loud ,drug dealing in every direction ,and rude unsupervised kids running around 24/7 .I thought I was in Hell !
So began the phone calls to the office, secuirty patrol and police .I reporrted EVERYTHING I saw .I was NOT going to pay close to $1,000 a month to live amongst scum. One by one these people left, eithr by eviction ,not having their lease renewed by managenment ,or they fled in the night .Other residents followed my lead and started turning people in .The sherrifs dept. spent a lot of time here .Word got out over time ,and things improved .
Parking is tight .Your best bet is pay the extra for a reserved spot as soon as you can .Report loud music and noise ,it will be dealt with promptly .Report problem children and teens ,the office will be right on it .Great staff who work hard !
Today Monterra is a pleasant place to live .The office staff are VERY HELPFUL and take no crap from problem residents . Leases are not renewed if you are a chronic rule breaker with no regard for others .This is a good thing !!! Report a pitbull or other dog over the weight limit for pets- earn $100 !!! This community is as good as the residents make it .Thanks to all who have done their part to improve our nice complex !!
I have kept up the phone calls when something is wrong ,and will continue to do so .It is time to sign anothers years lease and I AM STAYING ! Sooooooooooo ,if you want to live in the most improved apartment complex in Parkland ,move on in :) If you are one of the few scumbags who slip in by accident-beware.....we are watching you and you won't be here long :)

Boy are you kidding yourself. The staff is only concerned with money. It does not matter what kind of drug dealer you are, if you pay your rent you are golden. So, while it may be quite now, beware, they WILL let more dope heads in and wild children, etc.... Get ready - here they come!

I read this review and other than the fact the poster specifically states Monterra, I believed they where living elsewhere. I would not be surprised if this review is from a member of staff, it is comically innacurate to the extreme.
Between the scumbags, the self righteous and the extremely poor management(who are only nice to you around lease signing time, unless you are naive enough to believe the fake smiles coupled with impotent rhetoric) this place is a joke.

Monterra has only 'improved' because of the current poor weather. The scum that's here right now are staying indoors, but watch the action as the weather improves. Last year, the gunfire and intimidations happened during the summer. Most gang activity happens at the same time, every year. If you don't agree with me, that's ok, but before you spout off your rebuttals, seriously, ask the local law enforcement about the gang issues. The gang force teams gear up when summer approaches.
Our staff at Monterra are very un-educated when it comes to screening out this element.
I am not looking for a response to this post right now. Get back to it mid-summer. I bet most will be in agreement.

Last summer was an improvement over the previous ones I have spent here .So what I am 'spouting off' are my own observations .I persoanlly have much better neighbors than I had last summer .That alone will improve my outlook !I am in contact with the Sheriffs Office ,being a participant in the 'Safe Streets' movement .Which works great if everyone in the community participates .
I think we can all agree it isn't the greatest place to live .And now it is one of the most expensive ! I would move if I could afford to ,just like everyone else .
I never had an interest in owning a gun until I moved here .I now own 2,and a conceiled weapons permit .Yes ,I do feel a bit safer ;)
Best of luck to everyone who lives here .Lets stick together and be safe .
