When I first moved in to the complex, 2 of my money orders were lost, and I had to pay to get them a second copy. I was refunded the money, but the fact is that the office management lost them.
I have made multiple calls to the after hour pager due two emergencies and never received a call back. When I called the next day to speak with the Manager, she stated every time that, oh of course the day the pager breaks something has to happen.
About 2 months after I moved in I had to call 911 based on the fact that there was a shooting behind my apartment. Nobody that I know of was hurt during the shooting.
Also in order for me to walk my dog I have to pass an apartment that is occupied by young men. They do have a lot of visitors and I can t walk my dog or to pick up my mail with out getting hit on. They are under 21 and would continuously ask me to purchase them alcohol. I don t feel safe walking past that apartment.
There is also an older gentleman that comes to my apartment about every other week. At first I figured he was a solicitor. He knocks 4 times, and then he rings the bell 4 times and goes away. He comes during the hours of dinner around 6pm or 7pm. The next time he came to my door, was around 730pm, I again did not answer my door or let him know I was home. I do have a dog and she acts differently when he is at my door. She won t let me near the door and she growls and whines. If you knew my dog, that is not how she normally acts- I don t think I have ever heard her growl at someone. So I felt that it would be best, based on my dog s reactions, to act like I was not home. I was looking out of my peep hole, holding my dog trying to calm her down, when he reached for my door knob and tried to open my door. That same night he came back around 10pm and left a card. The card states:
A representative from our office will be in your area this week to conduct a brief interview. Any courtesies extended will be appreciated. Cordially, Educational division, National Research Service. It then lists associated agencies: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Louisiana, Kansas, Oregon, Washington, and Texas. On the back of the card is Says Sorry I missed you! Al I have attached a copy of the card.
I don t know who Al is, but when I went to work the next day I showed my boss (The Former Deputy Sheriff) and asked him if he has ever heard of the Educational division of the National Research Service. He said no but that he would look in to it. Bottom line is it does not exist. I called the University Place police and they told me the next time he comes to my door to call 911. And that s exactly what I did on 2/19/2008. I Called 911 and they sent a car out. Once I was off the phone with 911 and the guy was still there I paged the after hours emergency line 6 times and did not receive one phone call back. The police came but could not find the guy. They informed me that he matches the description of a sex offender in the area. I have attached the case number as well as my 911 transcript. The police did not fill out a formal report since they did not catch they guy.
The next morning I called the Apartment complex during business hours and asked if I could terminate my lease for this reason of Harassment and Safety issue. I was told by the manager at the time that she would contact corporate.
Last week I had a young gentlemen come to my door, I did not know him. I asked who it was and they stood there and kept waving like they knew me. Soon he shrugged his shoulders and walked down the stairs to Al who then took off.
I do not feel safe living here. When I get home I m afraid that Al" is going to be standing at my door, and I will have no where to go. I also don t feel safe walking my dog on the property anymore. When I get home from work I take my dog to a park about 10 blocks away. I don t feel safe staying home alone; I take my dog and go to my mom s house, or to play practice till 10PM. I sleep with a chair under the door knob of my apartment. I don t keep any lights on, and I don t leave after dark. My Dr. put me on Xanax to help with the anxiety associated with living in this complex.
I am thankful that I was able to speak directly with someone from Corporate and that she is letting me out of my lease 1 month early on April 30st 2008 based on the above situations with no penalties or financial obligation for the month of May 2008.

Hello. I am a single 23 year old woman interested in moving back home (i am originally from WA). I will have a busy schedule and will be living alone, so the story of "AI" frightens me. I have found that nearly every apartment has bad reviews and so i am willing to accept that and not judge the apartments based on the reviews. I would be naive to not at least screen them, though I have lived in apartments all my life and realize that there is no perfect apartment complex. I've dealt with rude management, noisy neighbors, and being hit on by men while simply trying to check my mail or take out trash. Anyhow, i can get past most of the reviews, but yours worries me deeply. i just would like to know if you still live in these apartments and if the harrassment has stopped.
I am in a rush, so i apologize for any grammatical errors. Thanks for your time.
