I moved in here in mid October. It's nice to live alone again.

It can't be too bad, because available apartments are rare here.

I like this place because it's close to school/work, not too far from the freeway, and not too far from shopping. They actually pay water/sewer/garbage, which is becoming hard to find nowadays. I have a covered parking spot. The garbage is close and emptied often. The cabana is adequate; it could be updated but it works. The hot tub is nice. In my apt, I have a w/d, wood fireplace, dishwasher, disposal, deck, huge storage room, decent sized bedroom and living room, a window seat... This place is actually pretty decent.

The move in process is lengthy. They have a LOT of rules. The late fee is a bit high. But it's fairly quiet and safe and I haven't had any problems. The leasing agent and manager are friendly. Very few problems with noise or people parking in my spot.

I would and have recommended this place to friends, co-workers, and fellow students.

Ok. So I wrote this previous review a while ago and things have changed since then. Every time my lease ends, they raise the rent. I had been signing 6 month leases because I didn't want to be locked into anything if my circumstances changed.. When I moved in in October of 2006, rent was $585 for my one bedroom, one bath unit. First it went up to $605, then $635, and now $675. Their reasoning' Everyone else raised their rents, so they had to raise theirs too and since it's within "market rent", there's not much you can do about it. But it still sucks. Just because it has a University Place zip code doesn't mean you should have to pay University Place rents. I mean, there's a trailer park across the street from the entrance to the complex! Granted, it's fairly quiet and well maintained, but still. If incoming tenants are paying the same price as current tenants, what incentive is there for tenants to stay'

The manager is rude and unprofessional and seems to have no customer service skills. She takes requests for maintenance or attempts to negotiate the rent price personally and gets very confrontational. She shrieked at me and called me rude and then hung up on me when I tried to explain my questions and concerns and defend myself (verbally).

She has sent me a couple notes and has stated that they will NOT renew my lease and I either have to pay month to month or move out.

My deadline to renew my lease was April 24th and I had called them a couple times before then and several times after then, and left messages. No one ever called me back. Then, they finally call me and it's long past the deadline and they claim that in my messages I sounded unhappy so they assumed I would be moving and didn't want to sign a new lease. According to them, the computer already put me in as month to month and they couldn't change it. So on top of their rent increase, they've now tacked on a $45 month-to-month fee. When I paid my rent on May 5th, I paid $675, since I never asked to be month to month. The check was refused and returned to my door. So now they're charging me a $75 late fee, the $45 month-to-month fee, AND the $675 for rent AND I had to get a money order because they don't accept checks after the 5th of the month. What a rip off. And all of this started because I wanted to get my dishwasher fixed (didn't wash dishes, it made them dirtier) and possibly move my smoke alarm so it didn't go off when I showered.

I have filed a complaint with Targa, not that they'll do anything, but at least it's documented.

I feel sorry for the leasing manager, who is actually REALLY nice and helpful. She's been super sweet to me the whole time I've lived here and it's only the complex/site manager who is the problem and it seems like I'm not the only one who has had a problem with her.

It's kind of sad because this place would be just about perfect with a different manager and a little updating.
