My husband, toddler, and I moved to Brentwood in the summer of 2006. We were initially very pleased at the size of our unit. Very large bedrooms and our apt was very nice. Immediately upon moving in our dryer went out. Maintenance was quick to respond with another old dryer but at least it worked. We got to know maintenance very well as we called them many times. The worst problem we had was the hot water heater blew and flooded through my daughter's bedroom soaking her carpet and completely flooding our kitchen and the kitchen wall. We had to put up with a moldy carpet smell and large hole in my daughter's room for the remainder of our stay. We were promised it would be fixed but never was.
Parking was horrible. I would get home from work late at night and have to walk to our unit from across the complex in a poorly lit area. Very scary.
Trash, cigarette butts, beer bottles littered the walkways and grassy areas. Too dangerous to let my daughter play outside for sure. Our neighbors played the drums, yelled across the courtyard at each other swearing, drinking, and doing drugs until late in the evening.
The final insult was moving out. My husband and I spent 3 hours scrubbing our unit top to bottom. It was immaculate. We moved into another complex and received our "bill" about a month later. Included was a 250.00 cleaning fee! We were shocked to see it amounted to 1,300! I called and spoke with a staff member and she refused to budge on it. They decided to update the carpet, kitchen counter, replaced all the doors and charged us for it! I agreed to pay for the part of the carpet as my cat did have fleas. We did not have that kind of money nor did we owe it. Brentwood sent us a total of 2 bills over 1 month then sent us straight to collections! They refused to work this out. I would not recommend Brentwood to my worst enemy. Stay, stay FAR away from this dump!!

That's about how much OUR bill was upon moving out.....we had mold growing in our master bedroom - each of the outside corners...from the floor up about 7 inches on the wall. Our washer broke and flooded our hallway soon after we moved in. I also had an issue with the kitchen disposal backing up...like backing up CRAP into my sinks - called emergency maintenance and the REFUSED to come out because that wasn't classified as an emergency in their book. How could it NOT be when there was someone else's GARBAGE backed up FILLING half of BOTH of my sinks. We moved out suddenly 12/31/06 in order to avoid paying January's rent - probably not a smart idea....broke our lease and now ALSO have a large bill in collections from them. OH WELL - we're in a MUCH better place with better management and JUST down the road! :-)
