BLACK LIGHTS!

My roommates and I lived at highland for a year and a half. We thought it was a great nice clean apartment...until we moved out!
1) When we moved in we noted a "dent" on the hallway door on our walk in sheet. They attempted to charged us around $70.00 to replace the door. They stated that there was a "hole". When asked to see this hole they stated that the door was no longer there.
2) When we moved in the carpet had dark stains (which we noted). When moving out they attmepted to charge us for "pet stains" in our carpet. WE NEVER OWNED A PET! They stated that they use black lights to inspect the carpets when moving in and moving out. We were never given the option or told about this when we moved in...Also the carpet is going on 7 years without replacement.
3)Maintaince is worthless and has to be called several times before making repairs. We had a broken toilet set and was never repaired. We personally bought a new one. They attempted to charge us a fee to replace when we moved out.
The bottom line: Take pictures when moving in, document every little thing that is wrong and call them on everything. Request to have a black light so YOU can inspect the carpet. You can't see these pet stains without one and it will come back to bite you. Count every little stain and document specifically where that stain is in detail. Have everything in writting; dont just call them or speak to them in person.

True true true. We had pets there and paid the ridiculous pet deposit on top of the other ridiculous deposits. After moving out they said they did the "black light" test and all of the carpets needed to be replaced. They refused to tell us ANYTHING about this previously and said that the stains were so bad that they couldnt possibly be cleaned. We had our dog for 3 months in that apartment and he was crate trained and was taken outside constantly for activities. They stated that the stains couldnt be "Seen" but they were there...haha, what a joke. They tried to bill us $1700 on top of our deposits. Never move in there unless you wanna get screwed.

This seems to be a reoccurring theme.
