I lived at this apartment complex for 6 months and really had no major problems until my boyfriend and I decided to move in together so we applied for a 3-bedroom apartment. It was agreed at the time of our application that I was to only complete my year lease term, and that this was to be just an upgrade. Several days after applying for the 3-bedroom apartment, I received a phone call on my cell phone regarding the status of my boyfriend's application. The assistant manager said, "I can't approve your application because your boyfriend has a criminal record." My boyfriend does NOT have a criminal record at all, and instead of contacting him directly regarding his application, the assistant manager of this apartment complex called me. At the time of the phone call, my boyfriend was standing right next to me. I gave him the phone, and he spoke to the assistant manager, and she denied that she had told me he had a criminal record as reasons for denying us the apartment. After several heated minutes on the phone, I walked down to the rental office to get a refund on the security deposit, and the apartment manager said to me, "if you don't believe that your boyfriend has a criminal record, then you should go check it him out at the county courthouse. You'll be surprised at the information you find out about him." I was appalled. The fact that the apartment manager would not only fallicitate such assinine accusations, but then encourage me to go seek information regarding my and my boyfriend's personal life was none of her business. I submitted my required 20-day notice to vacate, and received on my door a "Lease Buyout" notice of the breakdown of fees required to terminate my lease. After reading through the buyout notice and looking thouroughly at all the fees listed on my apartment contract agreement I signed when I moved in, NOWHERE in the agreement did it say anything about a lease buyout fee. The only fee listed on the original contract was a $350 early termination fee. I understand that many apartments charge an additional months' rent to move out early, but an additional months rent and the early termination fee would only add up to $990. I was billed $1673, which is almost 3 times my monthly rent. Don't bother contacting the property management company as they will only back up the extortionist office workers at the apartment complex. They are money hungry and will charge for everything, but will do nothing to make sure the apartment is well taken care of as far as making sure its tenants can park relatively close to their apartment. They do nothing to keep the lives of their tenants private, you can hear neighbors upstairs and down, parking is a nightmare, and don't even bother to contact maintenance as nothing will ever get done. Stay as far away from this complex as you can, unless of course, you are willing to contribute to the capitalist scum who work here.

He should check with the courts, if there really is something on his record that is incorrect he can appeal to have it removed. The managment there has always been horrendious, but this is illegal!

I hate------------*. She made these fliers about how my brother is a sex offender, even though he is not! And then she posted fliers with his picture on them that said, "This man is a lewd child rapist!" all over the complex. People threw rotten food at my brother for weeks! When I confronted -----* about it, she screamed in my face and told me to F off because my brother would never ask her out on a date and that is why she had done it. Who would want to date her anyways? I have seen change her clothes in her office, and she has------------* all over her stomach, thighs, and chest.

I believe your complaint to be true. They also make sure when you move out that you don't get much if any of your "refundable" deposit back. Providing the apt. is left is clean condition, this is ILLEGAL and they continually get away with it because the owners are an LLC (limited liability corporation) in another county near Seattle. People just drop it and lose the deposit they are entitled to. It is unfortunately quite the scam.
